Final Client/Group ReportAfter seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake)
Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report.

Adjustments and adaptations you made to your care plan,

I had designed a mixed mat and chair class and this has proven to be very helpful for the class. With the help of the chair every group member felt included and it made the asanas very doable for them.

Client/Group Goals

They improved in their balance and flexibility. One of the group members had never done yoga before and she specifically stated that this group yoga therapy class made yoga accessible for her because the chair was integrated in the class. So she felt that she was able to do yoga and did not feel excluded. Even though it was not a stated goal initially it became clear that the group had a fairly high stress level due to recent political changes. The group found the principles of the Yamas and Niyamas helpful in their daily life.

Report briefly on each Kosha belowProgress toward wellness or worsening reported by the client/group or that you observed in the following areas
Physical level

The group improved their flexibility and their balance on a physical level. They really enjoyed cat-cow, either in the chair or on the mat. They were able to do tree pose with or without the chair.

Energetic level

They felt that their energy level improved due to some changes they made, for example they listed their screen time for social media. She they noticed that the got more sleep and had more energy.

Emotional

They started feeling less anxiety because they limited their news intake. They went for walks in nature, interacted with their community and spent time with their pets. They felt less stress and felt more balanced after the group.

Intellectual / Sense of self

They were already active in various non profit organizations, but initially they felt helpless because of the funding cuts, but then they came to the conclusion, that now more than ever it is important to focus on what the can do instead of what they can't do. This helped them to feel motivated again and improved their sense of self.

Spiritual orientation and support plan

They enjoyed learning about the Yamas and Niyamas and applying them to their personal life. They will continue to be active in their communities, it gives them a sense of purpose. They find comfort in community. They give support to others and they feel supported.

Additional Information
Feedback received from client/group, anecdotal or written

The group enjoyed getting together, discussing yogic concepts, applying them to daily life. They very proud that they were able to do certain poses and improved physically and mentally. They liked that the poses could be adapted and they enjoyed the community and the support of the group.
The group let me know that they liked the adaptations I made and my calm presence.

Sample of homework given between sessions (after initial homework)

First homework was to practice 3 part breathing. Some of the members returned back to a meditation practice they had before and they had stopped practicing.
They enjoyed practicing cat-cow in the chair and on the mat. They liked tree pose and also warrior 1 in the chair and on the mat.
They practiced elements of the joint freeing yoga manuscript.
