Final Client/Group ReportAfter seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake)
Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report.

Client/Group Goals

Their goals are to improve their quality of life and overall physical and mental well-being, reducing stress as their main priority, along with improving their physical condition.

Report briefly on each Kosha belowProgress toward wellness or worsening reported by the client/group or that you observed in the following areas
Physical level

Ugyen struggles with inconsistent sleep and digestive issues that impact his energy levels. Mark remains moderately active despite a history of high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and past surgeries. Terry deals with lower back pain, numbness, and scoliosis, which affect his flexibility and sleep, with a reported pain level of 6 out of 10.
Some of their conditions are caused by moderate to high levels of stress, such as Ugyen’s digestive and sleep issues. At the same time, some of their stress is a result of physical pain or frustration.

Energetic level

Ugyen's energy level is moderate, rated at 5 out of 10, with significant fluctuations throughout the day. He often feels particularly depleted in the late afternoons and early evenings.

Mark's energy level is generally high, although he requires a nap during the day. He takes a nap every day, this is due to his irregular work schedule as a flight attendant. He is always smiling while he is talking, but I sometimes noticed tiredness when he is not talking.

Terry’s energy level is moderate, rated at 5 out of 10. He struggles to wake up in the late morning and feels fatigued. His energy level only improves when he stays busy with errands throughout the day. He sold his business last year, is managing his rental properties, and does not have a full-time job, which leads to an irregular lifestyle that impacts his energy levels as well.

Emotional

Ugyen's emotional state is characterized by a preference for solitude and calm environments, where he feels the happiest. He struggles with busy or noisy settings, indicating sensitivity to overstimulation. While he has support from family and friends, he is easily affected by others' stress, often needing time alone to manage his emotions, reflecting high empathy and emotional sensitivity. He is experiencing fear of an uncertain financial status and possible health issues.

Mark’s stress level is moderate (4 out of 10), mainly due to work and relationships. He manages stress through various practices, including yoga, meditation, and exercise. He generally feels happy but notes times of unhappiness linked to feeling depressed, which may suggest occasional low moods or emotional fluctuations. His interaction with customers as a flight attendant causes fluctuations in his mental state as well.

Terry reports a high stress level of 7 out of 10, primarily caused by lack of sleep, back

Intellectual / Sense of self

Ugyen's intellectual state shows a desire for greater focus and a more structured daily rhythm, indicating that he may sometimes struggle with mental clarity and productivity. His sense of self seems affected by these challenges, as he expresses a need for more consistency in his life and sometimes feels like he is "meandering." This suggests he may be seeking a stronger sense of purpose or direction.

Mark finds fulfillment in activities like theater, travel, cooking, and reading, indicating a well-rounded intellectual engagement. He feels supported by family, friends, and communities and expresses overall satisfaction with life. This sense of support and satisfaction indicates a strong sense of self and connection.

Terry expresses a desire for more focus and structure in his life. He feels satisfied but also recognizes moments of dissatisfaction, especially when his plans fall apart due to caregiving responsibilities. His activities include watching videos, browsing online, and

Spiritual orientation and support plan

Ugyen's intake form does not explicitly mention his spiritual orientation. However, based on his desire for calm, focus, and balance in his life, his spiritual needs may align with a search for inner peace and personal clarity. He seems to be drawn to practices that promote well-being, like yoga, which could indicate an interest in spiritual growth through mindfulness and self-awareness.

Terry’s sense of support primarily comes from his relationship with his partner, who acts as a mentor and emotional anchor during challenging times. This suggests a potential area to explore for deeper spiritual or existential connections.

Mark’s interest in Yoga Philosophy implies an intellectual curiosity about the deeper aspects of yoga, including spiritual teachings, while his sense of support and community contributes to his spiritual fulfillment, reflecting interconnectedness.

Additional Information
Feedback received from client/group, anecdotal or written

Ugyen, Mark and Terry reported that they are benefiting from breathing practice also even only 5 minutes of quietness helped reduce their stress level.
Mark stated that the modification to chair practice due to recent knee pain helped him to continue to practice maintaining physical health.
Terry also said that some of the modifications allowed him to maintain long-held poses
and also how to breathe during these long-held poses, deep & slow breathing, were very helpful.

Overall, all clients realized that breathing can help them to reduce stress significantly; at the same time, they were able to practice asanas comfortably.

Sample of homework given between sessions (after initial homework)

The practice below is assigned to them as daily home practice.
I suggested modifying them based on their condition, i.e. they can advance from Sphinx Pose to Seal Pose if they are comfortable and use extra props to support knees.
Also, I recommend a supine spinal twist, legs on the wall, before bedtime to relax more and improve the quality of sleep.

1. Supine Spinal Twist
2. Sphinx pose
3. Legs on the wall
4. Breathing Practice (alternate nostril breathing, 3-parts breathing)
5. Sun Saluations
6. Child Pose

What you would change with benefit of hindsight

If I face a similar situation again, I will have to plan how to address their issues and how to use limited session time wisely.
That includes whether I will include all of their condition or select some of them that are more serious.

Did you enjoy your service?

I enjoyed the session with these 3 clients. It was rewarding to receive positive feedback and observe their physical and mental improvement.
