Homework assignment to client/group

Discussion around maintaining her practice while traveling over the course of the next 2-3 months.

Activities

Centering (5-8 min): Grounding

Discussion and Check -In (5 min): discuss w/ client how the week went. Did anything in particular come up for you that you would like to share? Were you able to complete the 3 nights of homework? How did it feel for you? How did it feel to turn off electronics earlier in the night and just focus on being present w/ yourself and/or your husband?

Breathwork (10-12 min): went over and practiced 3-Part Breath, Nadi Suddhi and Breath of Joy.

Yoga Philosophy (10-12 min): Went over: Ishvarapranishana, Aparigraha, Ahimsa and discussed Yoga Sutras 1.2 and 1.3. Reinforced what has already been taught.

Asana (20-30 min): Began in Sukhasana w/ smal JAPA movments. Moved into Table/Top and did some gentle sequences from here. Moved into Downward Dog and moved into some slow flow sequences taking breaks in Child’s Pose in between. Focused on her breath and movement connection, alignment and focusing on building strength. Ended on her back and led directly into Relaxation.

Relaxation (10 min): Self-Care Guided imagery meditation

Closing (5 min): discussion around the session and ways NZ can keep up w/ her practice over the next couple months while traveling.

Client/Group progress summary

I really feel that a lot of progress was made in the 6 sessions with NZ. I feel as though she has been able to settle down and open up a bit more with me. She seems more comfortable leaning into these practices without such intense defenses and I think while she may not be super vocal, I get the impression she is getting a lot out of the sessions and ways to approach her life and self-care that she has not thought about before.

Reflection and self-evaluation

I’m proud of the work I’ve done so far with this client, and I look forward to continuing with her on her journey in the future. I believe she wants to come back after her travels and I’m proud of her willingness to do something out of her confort zone and proud of the progress she’s already made.

Final Client/Group ReportAfter seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake)
Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report.
Plan for next session

Plan to reconnect after Christmas to continue w/ Yoga Therapy sessions.
