Final Client/Group ReportAfter seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake)
Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report.

Client/Group Goals

see above

Report briefly on each Kosha belowProgress toward wellness or worsening reported by the client/group or that you observed in the following areas
Physical level

NZ's strength has improved (self-reported) and she claims she also feels better in her body due to the physical practice of yoga. She still experiences lack of flexibility and strength in her left leg/knee due to OA.

Energetic level

NZ reports still feeling stress but she says she feels "better able to manage it" and says she sometimes is able to talk herself out of feeling stressed when she knows it's not her job to take it on. She also reports having less "racing" thoughts in the night and says she is sleeping a bit better in the night. She is by nature, an intense person, but hearing her articulate that she is able to manage it better is a win.

Emotional

One thing I noticed was an increased happiness in where she's at in her life now. When we first met in the Summer 2024, she reported being very worried about the idea of not returning to her job and having a sense of purpose, daily routine and her friends at her job, but 6 months later (Jan 2025) that has seemed to go by the wayside and she has embraced this new life with her husband of traveling and living life to the fullest. She had told me she was nervous about the idea of retiring, but when her and her husband lost a good friend unexpectedly, her husband was instrumental in having them both retire and live their lives while they are still young and able-bodied. It's clear she feels that this was the right decision.

Intellectual / Sense of self

see above - her new found adventure-lifestyle seems to agree w/ NZ and she seems to have come into a stronger sense of Self and new purpose. She has also been able to control her reactions more and identity when something is hers to take on versus not take on, and I think this contributes to her overall reduction in stress and anxiety, and an increase in her own personal power.

Spiritual orientation and support plan

Nothing different here as NZ is not religious, or as she says, "depends on the day you ask me." However, I do think she believes in the spirituality of the yoga practice and sees the benefits here as we have arranged to continue meeting weekly.

Additional Information
Feedback received from client/group, anecdotal or written

No formal feedback from client. I know she loves the sessions, the dialogue we have about various things and she is always open to when I add in new ideas and ways to think about things from yoga and yoga philosophy. I know she loves the physical practice and has mentioned several times that she never feels better than when we're done w/ a session. I look forward to continuing on this path with her moving forward.

Sample of homework given between sessions (after initial homework)

Most of the homework I gave NZ was more experiential. I asked her to, when feeling stressed, stop in the moment and come into 3-part breath and observe how it made her feel. We would always discuss at each session times when she felt she was "taking on someone else's problem" and how she handled it in the moment. She was always very articulate and willing to discuss these situations and how she handled them and ways she could better handle them using tools and things we discussed in our sessions together. We would draw from non-attachment, ahimsa, etc., and I think the open conversations helped her see how a lot of things were not her reasonability to take on and in doing so, was only hurting herself.

Personal reflection from doing client/group.
Rough estimate of time spent in preparation and follow up documentation per session20 min
What you would change with benefit of hindsight

Nothing at this time. Moving forward w/ new clients I will implement the changes I wrote about above.

Questions, problems, areas in which you’d like more support

Note taking needs improvement so writing reports is not as tedious.

I'd also like to be more organized in my session planning. As a personal trainer for over 20 years, I think through peoples' workouts for up to 1 month at a time, and w/ yoga therapy, I'd like to find a way to have a more organized approach rather than week to week. As I write this, I think moving forward I'd like to plan from the back end, thinking of what I'd like my outcome to be w/ the client and then creating a yoga therapy progression towards that outcome. I'd like to be more organized in the "homework" my clients are given so it's more tangible. (I hope this makes sense)

Did you enjoy your service?

Yes. I loved working with this client and felt like, based on her personality, she would be a good challenge for me. I felt very successful that I was able to "get inside" w/ her a bit and have her see how yoga therapy can be of service to her.
