| Mentoring Session Topic and Comments | MML - Capstone - Trust the Yoga. Discussed my judgment of the client, her situation. We're building positive samsara's, repatterining the brain. I need to let go of my attachment to the outcomes. I introduce practices to her in alignment with her needs. Trust the yoga to slowly transform her. I see her disregarding her health, bring her "awareness and attention." Look at surrender, attachment, the locks and keys. When I see an unbalance, give her the tools she needs. Talk about protecting her own energy, brahmacharya while showing loving kindness to others. Her score on the Fatigue Severity Scale was high, with the recommendation of medical attention. What can she do to protect her own energy before entering her home? For example, on the way home from work or in the driveway take a few minutes to gather herself. In the home, announce that, "I need 15 minutes to myself before anyone greets me." My job is to help her manage her fatigue. "It's clinical fatigue," Steffany stated. It may be an inflammatory response, poor sleep hygiene, nutritional, etc. Use Motivational Interviewing. "On the one hand, you're telling me that you're doing too much, and on the other hand you take on too much. Can you explain to me about the misalignment?" Or, "How does it benefit you by doing too much?" "How would your life change if you did less?" "Is there anything small that doesn't bring you joy that you can let go of?" (non-attachment). What is safe to let go of? How do I address her situation, why is she here? She wants to feel better. "Do you think medical care would help you to feel better?" Independent of MML's level of physical activity, I'm curious as to when and how much physical activity is 'too much'? Is it helping to maintain or improve the diagnosis? "Medical care is a critical piece." I need to ask about her medical care, who the rheumatologist is, what they're suggesting, etc. MJL - interested in improving his physical function. Addressed my feeling of imposter syndrome and why I feel that way. CMS - introduced Santosh and Bhakti. Steffany asked me to inquire about his reason for YT. I asked about how he's feeling about his diagnosis. He verbalized a clear, calm approach to it, and acceptance to his medical situation. He verbalizes discontent with other parts of his life. He's one of 6 adult children, and has been a primary caregiver. He has no devotional practice. I incorporated subtle elements that align with Bhakti principles. We practiced chanting, expressing gratitude during the session, and incorporating themes of kindness and compassion into asana practice. I talked about the goodness and kindness within everyone, and also the within him. |

| Final Client/Group Report | After seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake) Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report. |
