HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT
In the upcoming week, KR intends to continue cultivating consistency in her home practice, building on previous weeks of steady effort. Nightly meditation remains part of this commitment, with the understanding that travel from July 13–25 may present some challenges to her routine.

She plans to maintain her movement practices through daily walking and swimming when available.

KR’s creative energy will continue to flow toward photography, with the understanding that joy, curiosity, and passion remain at the heart of this exploration. While traveling, she intends to shift her focus toward capturing landscapes in Miami and the Florida Keys, as well as family moments, rather than photographing local yogis.

Psychotherapy is currently on pause for two weeks due to the absence of virtual sessions.
Upon returning from Florida, KR aims to resume her home decluttering efforts—beginning with addressing her late mother’s stored belongings and making thoughtful decisions about integrating or releasing them.

Activities

Session 5: July 7
DAILY HOME PRACTICES
This week, KR engaged in her home practice four times, demonstrating increased consistency and intention.
Her sessions included:
* 5–8 minutes of breathwork (3-part breath, Brahmari breath) and grounding, anchored by the affirmation: “I am ready for the next beautiful chapter of my life.”
* A 15-minute asana flow featuring seated stretches, forward folds, Downward Dog transitioning into Warrior I and II, Triangle, and Fallen Star.
* 10 minutes of Savasana (in Supported Buddha Konasana), supported by a guided meditation focused on gratitude.
In the evenings, KR maintained her nightly Insight Timer meditations before bed, using them as a ritual for relaxation and emotional integration.

SOMATIC AND MOVEMENT PRACTICES
KR has maintained outdoor walking and swimming practices for physical relief and mobility, especially targeting the hips. She’s been swimming 30–40 minutes, 2–3 times per week at her in-laws’ pool and has noticed improved comfort and functionality as a result.

DECLUTTERING
KR successfully moved through the majority of her clothing items and donated them to the local Goodwill. She is intentionally pausing the start of any new projects until after July 25th, as she is currently traveling—first to Miami, and then back to retrieve her daughter from the University of Miami’s pre-college program.

WEEKLY PSYCHOTHERAPY
KR attended her scheduled therapy session this week. The focus was on establishing and maintaining personal boundaries while regulating internal responses. A helpful metaphor emerged: visualizing an inner fire that begins to stir when emotional reactivity rises. Rather than letting it flame outward, KR is practicing the skill of internal containment—pausing, taking a deep breath, and responding from clarity and calm.

DHARMA EXPLORATION
KR continues to explore her creative path through photography. She is in the process of editing recent photos and has a collaborative shoot scheduled for Friday, July 11, with a local yoga teacher. She is also engaging in online learning through Skillshare when time allows, expanding her camera and editing skills. Throughout, she remains grounded in a non-striving approach—cultivating joy and curiosity rather than pressure or expectation.

KR is wrapping up a free two-week “Video Content Creation” course focused on social media, content building, and small business strategy. These tools are intended to support future outreach and growth for her yoga studio.

Client/Group progress summary

PROGRESS SUMMARY
KR appears to be making steady, incremental progress in alignment with her care plan. Her daily and weekly practices continue to support her overall well-being. She remains consistent in attending weekly psychotherapy sessions, where she is recognizing meaningful parallels between psychotherapy and the teachings of yoga philosophy.

While there are ongoing challenges—including the inherent demands of running a small business, navigating the emotional ups and downs of her daughter being away from home, and the natural complexities within her marriage—KR continues to show up for her practices to the best of her ability. Despite the external chaos, she maintains a steady intention to stay grounded and present, and to nurture consistency wherever possible.

Her commitment to building upon these practices remains strong, fueled by awareness, compassion, and the understanding that progress is not always linear.

Reflection and self-evaluation

REFLECTIONS
As KR moves through her personal work and weekly practices, several key elements arise through the lens of yoga therapy—particularly in relation to emotional regulation, boundary-setting, and self-awareness.

Agni (Inner Fire) and Tapas (Discipline)
KR is navigating the emotional landscape of her life with increasing awareness, particularly in moments where reactivity may arise. From a yogic lens, this reflects the dynamic nature of agni, the inner fire—when balanced, it supports transformation and clarity; when overstimulated, it can manifest as rajasic tendencies such as impatience, anger, or restlessness.

KR is working to develop tapas, the yogic discipline to contain and direct this fire with intention. Rather than suppressing the emotional heat, she is learning to recognize its presence and consciously respond. Pranayama techniques like Nadi Shodhana (alternate nostril breathing) are being integrated to help her build tolerance and inner containment.

Sakshi Bhava: Cultivating Witness Consciousness
Throughout her reflections, KR demonstrates a growing ability to observe her inner experiences without becoming entangled in them. This is the essence of sakshi bhava, the witness state. She is not the emotion—she is the one watching the emotion arise.

This capacity allows her to create spaciousness between feeling and action, where new choices can emerge. Her practice of nightly meditation and journaling further supports this evolution toward non-identification and mindful self-regulation.

Breath as a Tool for Boundaries and Regulation
KR is beginning to recognize the breath as a foundational tool for managing both internal heat and external boundary challenges. In moments of rising tension, she can turn to Sitali pranayama (cooling breaths) to shift from a reactive state into a parasympathetic one, allowing clarity and groundedness to return.

As a yoga therapist observing her process, it’s evident that KR is doing the work of integrating subtle practices into daily life—not just on the mat, but in the nuanced territory of relationships, parenting, and self-leadership. Her growing attunement to breath, energy, and awareness continues to support her in creating sustainable emotional balance and inner resilience.

Final Client/Group ReportAfter seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake)
Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report.
Plan for next session

PLAN FOR THE WEEK AHEAD
KR intends to continue cultivating her daily practice, integrating new asana and meditation techniques, and allowing space for creativity to guide her home sessions. She plans to add in Sitali breath into her home practice as needed. Nightly meditation remains a consistent part of her routine, supporting rest and integration.

She is bringing mindful awareness to moments when her thinking shifts toward the past with a mindset of lack. Her intention is to gently reframe these thoughts through the lens of abundance and possibility.

KR is also observing the need for clearer boundaries and plans to remain attentive to her emotional responses—particularly in moments when anger arises—using the breath as a tool to pause, center, and respond with clarity.

Her dharma exploration through photography remains active. She continues to engage with it from a place of curiosity and joy, allowing the process to unfold without pressure or expectation.

Movement practices such as walking and therapeutic swimming will remain part of her weekly rhythm, with a goal of walking most days and swimming 2–3 times for both mobility and pain relief.
