Presenting ProblemThe group presents with symptoms of chronic stress, disconnection from the body, and difficulty finding inner calm amid transitional life phases. Members share a common desire to restore balance, cultivate presence, and reconnect with personal strength—both mentally and physically—through mindful awareness and embodied practice.
Physical

Through gentle movement and mindful asana, participants will rebuild strength, ease physical tension, and deepen awareness of bodily sensations—learning to move in ways that feel both grounding and nurturing during times of transition.

Client/Group goals1. To enhance mind–body connection and self-awareness through yoga therapy, creative reflection, and somatic exploration—supporting emotional balance and nervous system regulation. 2. To cultivate resilience, peace, and presence by integrating tools for grounding, breath regulation, and mindful creativity that foster long-term wellbeing.
Energetic

Breathwork and pranayama techniques will be used to calm the nervous system, regulate energy flow, and create balance between effort and rest—helping the group access vitality and peace from within.

Emotional

Guided meditation, journaling, and creative exercises will encourage observation of thought patterns, emotional release, and reframing of self-talk to foster mental clarity and compassion.

Spiritual orientation and needs

As the outer layers soften, participants will reconnect with moments of stillness, joy, and acceptance—cultivating inner harmony and a felt sense of peace that transcends circumstance.

Intellectual / Sense of self

Through self-inquiry and reflective dialogue, participants will deepen their intuitive understanding of inner patterns, learning to listen to the body’s wisdom and trust the natural process of change.

The Gunas (Sattva, Rajas, Tamas)
Application: Teach participants how to identify energetic states—
* Rajas: restlessness, overthinking
* Tamas: heaviness, inertia
* Sattva: clarity, calm, and balance
Encourages awareness of what creates or depletes harmony.

T.K.V. Desikachar, The Heart of Yoga
“The quality of our practice depends on the quality of our attention.”
Application: Gently reinforces mindfulness and embodied awareness. Supports members learning to “turn off the brain” and return to the present moment through focused attention and breath, and in this series’ case, through creative expression.

This study provides evidence-based support for incorporating creative expression—such as journaling, collage, or painting—as a therapeutic tool to lower physiological stress and promote calm.

This systematic review by Martin et al. (2018) found that creative arts interventions—such as art, music, and movement—significantly reduce stress and promote emotional regulation across diverse populations. Incorporating these findings, my 4-week series can confidently use expressive and creative practices as evidence-based methods for managing stress and enhancing wellbeing.

Final Client/Group ReportAfter seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake)
Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report.
