| Homework assignment to client/group | Participants were assigned a daily 5-minute grounding ritual that included slow diaphragmatic breathing, one supportive pose, and a brief written reflection on physical or emotional sensations noticed. They were encouraged to note any shifts in mood or stress levels throughout the week. This gentle homework was designed to help them build consistency and deepen interoceptive awareness between sessions. |
| Activities | Week 1 introduced the theme “Grounding & Reconnecting.” The session began with slow breath awareness and a guided body scan to cultivate interoception and somatic presence. Participants explored gentle restorative shapes—such as supported child’s pose, reclining bound angle, and legs-over-bolster—to anchor awareness in the body and invite safety. Group discussion highlighted the importance of grounding as a way to re-establish trust in one’s internal signals. The creative activity invited participants to journal around the prompt, “Where do I feel most at home within myself?” and to describe sensations of ease versus disconnection. |
| Client/Group progress summary | The group appeared engaged and curious, though some participants expressed initial discomfort with slowing down. By the end of the session, most reported a felt sense of calm and increased body awareness. Common themes included fatigue, emotional heaviness, and a desire to reconnect with their physical bodies after periods of stress or overextension. Group rapport began forming naturally through shared experiences of grounding and stillness. |
| Reflection and self-evaluation | This first session successfully created a safe and supportive environment for participants to begin noticing their internal states without judgment. I felt that the pacing and tone encouraged relaxation and curiosity rather than performance. I reflected on the benefit of extending silent pauses during body scans to allow deeper embodiment and observed that the group responded well to gentle, invitational language. |
| Final Client/Group Report | After seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake) Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report. |
| Plan for next session | Week 2 will focus on “Release & Flow,” introducing therapeutic movement sequences designed to promote emotional release through the hips and shoulders. Creative exploration will include watercolor pens and mandala art as a visual metaphor for letting go. The breathwork will emphasize exhalation and softening as tools for releasing physical and emotional tension. |
