| Session Date | 05/03/2024 |
| Session Number | 9 |
| Total Session Minutes | 12.75 |
| Homework assignment to client/group | Homework assignments have included walking meditation, box breathing, legs up the wall, Yoga Nidra, and establishing a consistent bedtime routine to assist with sleep and decompression/stress relief at the end of the day. |
| Activities | I have been varying the asana practice based on how the client is feeling and if she is in a flare. Asanas have included: Joint-freeing, gentle chair Hatha, Chair pose with a block between the knees, Happy Baby pose (at the client's request), progressive low lunges, legs up the wall, restorative legs on the chair, and cat/cow seated and on the knees and hands on the floor. I have been offering Yoga Nidra every session with some variations based on pain/inflammation level. We have been discussing the Kleshas, the chakras, and using the Prophet and music as mechanisms for spiritual learning. |
| Client/Group progress summary | I have seen this client for 12.75 hours and they are now my capstone client. |
| Reflection and self-evaluation | I have enjoyed working with this client and have found that I always need a backup plan for each session in case the client is in a flare. She is very vocal and will share if there is something she likes or doesn't, which has been nice because I get quick feedback and can adjust. She has been experiencing less flares the more that we've worked together, which is something that she attributes to our sessions. She's also been breaking some harmful attachments in her relationship with others and in relationship to self. She has some complex mental health issues and doesn't always know what will cause mental discomfort, so I have learned to just take it easy each session and follow her lead. MI is my best friend! |
| Final Client/Group Report | After seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake) Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report. |
| Plan for next session | We will discuss the Niyamas. We will do Gentle Hatha standing or seated, we will do Yoga Nidra, practice Humming Bee Breath, and wrap up with meditation and discussion of homework. Homework will likely be to finish some journaling that we will start together about the Yamas, continue to practice chair pose with a block, and to continue the breathing practice that we did in our session. |
