Homework assignment to client/group

Work with whatever chakra(s) may be blocked or otherwise unbalanced (depleted/excessive) using the techniques discussed.

Activities

A new person joined the group today: female, age 73. She lists her conditions as osteopenia, and recovery from left knee replacement 16 months ago.
Today, I did a powerpoint presentation and we enjoyed discussions about the seven chakras, and how to use yoga techniques for balancing chakras.
After the presentation, we did asana practices for all seven chakras; we did supine strap stretches.
I took them through a guided meditation for the chakras including associated qualities, colors, sounds, and affirmations.

Client/Group progress summary

Clients are enjoying the material. They all contribute to the discussion. One client is a physician specializing in sleep disorders so he always has interesting points to ask or add. Two clients are brand new to yoga, and they have expressed their appreciation for being able to learn so much about yoga philosophy and practices.

Reflection and self-evaluation

It's a lot of working setting up and cleaning up for this group. This week, I was notified that the rec center where my group was being offered would be without air conditioning for the next 3-4 weeks due to replacement of the system. That work was not supposed to be done until June. So we had to brainstorm ideas. My husband was the one who suggested moving the group to another rec center. This was a slight logistical challenge, but it worked! So today and the remaning two weeks are being offered at a different center. Clients were notified and everyone was in attendance today. (6 clients)
The group is going well, and I am enjoying it (although it is tiring).

Final Client/Group ReportAfter seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake)
Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report.
Plan for next session

The topic next week is yoga, mindfulness, and meditation. After the powerpoint presentation, we will learn and practice meditation using different objects: walking, mantra, and breath. There will also be a short adaptive asana practice.
