Homework assignment to client/group

Use tools as needed to intercept anger/frustration rather than allowing it to keep building. Tools he can use: movement (within reason!), walking meditation, "peace is in me" meditation, deep breathing.

Activities

Discussed the way anger/frustration continues to show up for him. This week, he damaged his new phone. He was so angry he went out and ran 13 miles (more than double his usual mileage) to cope, which caused some pain in his hips, knee, and foot. We discussed his pattern of directing anger toward himself, and his tendency to become especially angry when something involves money (i.e., phone, refrigerator). He sees this. He is also able to sense when anger is building with a kind of "snowball effect." Talked about how he can start to catch himself sooner to pause, breathe, take a walk or some sort of time-out.
Taught and practiced walking meditation.
Reviewed slow, deep breathing.
Reviewed koshas. He remembered all of them except "mental."

Client/Group progress summary

The client is more self-aware than I thought he would be. This awareness is helping him make progress. This type of mental training can be slow-going, but I believe he is motivated enough to get good results over time.

Reflection and self-evaluation

I felt good about being able to see his patterns and point them out in a way that was curious and gentle enough to keep him interested.

Final Client/Group ReportAfter seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake)
Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report.
Plan for next session

Review what we have learned so far.
Introduce kleshas, attachment and aversion, as ways to observe what happens in his mind with anger/frustration.
Breath awareness, possibly extended exhalations.

Report briefly on each Kosha belowProgress toward wellness or worsening reported by the client/group or that you observed in the following areas
