Homework assignment to client/group

Reading assignment on pratipaksha bhavana. The assignment also asks them to write down 2-3 negative thoughts that bother them regularly, then write the opposite positive they wish to cultivate for themselves. We will discuss next time (they can share whatever they are comfortable sharing).
Daily walking meditation.
Daily pranayama and/or seated asana we have learned.

Activities

We reviewed their reading assignment homework on the 4 paths of Yoga, and some specific sutras from the Yoga Sutras for Raja Yoga. All clients resonated well with karma yoga and bhakti yoga but not so much with the others, but when I gave more explanations and examples, they understood better. I also shared affirmations from SMTT which they really liked. The conversation naturally moved into gratitude, and the importance of changing negative thoughts to more positive ones. This was perfect since the homework handout I gave for this week is on pratipaksha bhavana!
Had them fill out a form asking for their favorite colors, animals, environments so I can design a group guided meditation for next session.
Taught and practiced walking meditation with them.
Reviewed other tools they have learned in previous weeks.
Gentle stretches and restorative asana finished our session today.

Client/Group progress summary

This group is very interactive. They all share equally which is very nice since one person is not monopolizing the conversation. They are becoming more aware that anxiety/stress exists in the mind, and they have tools to do something about it!

Reflection and self-evaluation

I find that I really enjoy the group discussions. We went a little too long on the discussion today, so I didn't have as much time for restorative asana as I had wanted. But everything still worked out fine.

Final Client/Group ReportAfter seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake)
Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report.
Plan for next session

We will go over their written homework on pratipaksha bhavana.
I will explain and give them a handout on EFT Tapping (emotional freedom technique) as learned in the psychology module. This technique works with the meridians and can even be seen as a form of pratipaksha bhavana.
We will practice standing and seated asana followed by supine relaxation with extended exhalations.
