| Homework assignment to client/group | Daily: Slow deep breathing. Shoulder opening with a strap in standing chest expansion. |
| Activities | Discussed client's physical activities, and received more details about his shoulders. Both of his shoulders had dislocated when he was in his teens/20s. The right shoulder reset and healed properly, but the left one did not, necessitating shoulder reconstructive surgery. Both shoulder are now afflicted with osteoarthritis, the right one more so than the left especially in the acromioclavicular joint. |
| Client/Group progress summary | Client is very open and interested in what we are able to do with yoga therapy. He is comfortable asking questions. |
| Reflection and self-evaluation | This client, as well as one of my others, commented that 3-part breath causes a feeling of light-headedness. I'm still perplexed by this and not sure how to modify. I have been focusing on teaching the importance of a complete exhalation each time and giving the client plenty of time for this to happen. So could hyperventilation still be happening just because the client is getting more oxygen than during their usual shallow breathing? What should I do differently? |
| Final Client/Group Report | After seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake) Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report. |
| Plan for next session | Review what we covered in this session. Possibly add asana and stretching for back and thighs. |
