| Homework assignment to client/group | Body Awareness: Practice mountain pose 1x/day, sensing into the feet, knees, arms, and shoulders. |
| Activities | Centering: Guided Awareness practice Check In I offered the Yamas and Niyamas, starting with Ahimsa. We discussed this as a lose comparison to the 10 Commandments, reflective of the client’s Christian faith. Balanced Hatha Yoga considering contraindications: Joint Freeing (seated) Balanced Pranayama considering contraindications: Diaphragmatic breathing while in constructive rest pose with hands on parts of the body to develop breath awareness. Relaxation: Yoga Nidra with tensing/releasing Meditation/Centering: Guided meditation utilizing the DBT STOP technique that involves the client seeing thoughts come in through one door, labeling the thoughts, and then sending them out another door. |
| Client/Group progress summary | The client experienced deep relaxation in our intake session and in this session. She said she really enjoyed the DBT Stop technique and will use it when she notices that she’s ruminating. She did well with the yoga poses and really enjoyed the Utkasana, self-reporting that she felt stronger and more stable as we practiced it together. |
| Reflection and self-evaluation | This client was really frustrated at the start of the session about interpersonal relationship issues. I was able to do the centering nearly right away when I heard this, rather than to talk through it. This helped the client calm quickly and then the discussion that followed was less stressful. This also gave me an example that we were able to use live in the discussion about Ahimsa that seemed timely. |
| Final Client/Group Report | After seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake) Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report. |
| Plan for next session | Centering: Guided Awareness practice Check In We will review the clients notes about their Ahimsa practice and will discuss Satya, truthfulness. Balanced Hatha Yoga considering contraindications: Joint Freeing (seated) Balanced Pranayama considering contraindications: Diaphragmatic breathing while in constructive rest pose with hands on parts of the body to develop breath awareness.
