Yoga philosophy/wisdom research reference(s)

Being in the present moment. Experience your breath, watch your thoughts without judgment.

Yoga chittavritti nirodhah

through the practices of yoga we learn to quiet the mind.

I am choosing the basic concept to this group because their desire for meditation and spiritual practice isn't a priority, but the gift of being present and watching you breath and thoughts is relatable.

Scientific research reference(s), why chosen, how you plan to incorporate 1-3

Guidelines for this group is a gentle yoga Matt class that includes Japa, asanas, such as twists and folds, also an adapted salutation with a low lunge from stepping back from tandasana. Restorative practice with lots of props for each condition of the back. The use of straps for support in hips movement.
We will do a guided meditation and pranayama. Which is at the beginning and at the end of our time.
Breathwork includes square breath and yogic 3 part breath and Uujaiyi.

Contraindications for this group are for DDD, twisting. Adapted with blocks.
Kyphosis, no weight bearing on the hands, forwards folds need to be adapted (use of straps).
Stiffness and pain in hips avoid Warrior and Triangle poses.
There are no known contraindications for being over weight and practicing yoga but I will be mindful of shortness of breath.

Final Client/Group ReportAfter seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake)
Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report.
