Client/Group progress summary

The client self reported that she had skipped her menstrual cycle. She let me know that she enrolled in a HITT Challenge and that she saw it was a support and tool for the body. She did some deep breathing practice while visiting the beach near her home this week. She realized that she is “carrying everyone else’s stuff.” The client indicated that the Beatitudes was triggering for her at first. She said that she had some people in her family that had used Christianity against her, so despite her telling me that she got a lot of comfort from the Bible and wanted to incorporate it into our sessions, she said this was hard for her. She said once she realized that it was because of some familial issues then she was able to read the scripture again and understands the lesson.

Reflection and self-evaluation

I was very surprised that the scripture was triggering because this suggestion was as a result of the client’s request that we incorporate items from the Bible into the practices that we would hare. I utilized MI to develop a better understanding of what the causation of this reaction might be. Once we talked through it, it was understandable why this would be a bit triggering. Even though she has said that she is fine with it now I plan to avoid reintroducing scripture for awhile because so much of her anxiety is tied up into familial relationships.

Final Client/Group ReportAfter seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake)
Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report.
