| Activities | Check In Discussion: We talked about the Yamas and Niyamas that the client is using in his own life. We discussed the Kleshas and self-delusion/ignorance and how that causes the client to self-doubt and push himself beyond safe limits. Gentle Hatha Yoga with Adaptations: Joint Freeing Series in chair Humming bee breath to trigger a relaxation response Yoga Nidra with tensing and releasing and emphasis on proprioception Mantra repetition meditation |
| Client/Group progress summary | The client reported when he arrived to our session that he’d decided to walk two miles a few days prior on a hot day, despite not being cleared for walking on the foot by his doctor. During MI, it came up that he was identifying strongly with his inability to do the things he was once able to do so he chose to walk to prove to himself that he could do it. The client was in extreme physical pain, which required me to modify our asana practice. He said his pain felt less at the end of our session. |
| Reflection and self-evaluation | I was able to help the client with MI to interrogate the reasons why he chooses to push himself beyond his limits or why he choose to allow others to do so. I would like to explore tapas in depth with him, but will only offer that when I am sure the client is more open for this sort of self-study without being self-deprecating. The discussion about Ahimsa and how the client may be choosing actions that are self-harming, i.e. walking two miles to prove something to himself. I will also incorporate discussion about disturbances that are caused by self-identification with the body and mind in a future session. |
| Final Client/Group Report | After seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake) Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report. |
| Plan for next session | Check In Gentle Hatha Yoga with Adaptations: Joint Freeing Series in chair with emphasis on proprioception Humming bee breath to trigger a relaxation response Rolling OM Chanting for three rounds to help the client focus the mind and further relax the nervous system Yoga Nidra with tensing and releasing and emphasis on proprioception |
