Homework assignment to client/group

Daily slow, deep breathing
Meditation several times a week (if not daily)

Activities

Discussed client's understanding and use of pratipaksha bhavana. He was able to use it this week with his dislike of spending money on unnecessary items when his wife ordered a new FitBit. Normally, the client would have been very irritated by this because his wife has had several of these type items. He was able to focus on how much this means to her for her own health and fitness.
Checked in regarding his pranayama and meditation practice. Client admitted that he has not been practicing regularly. He got out of the habit due to being on vacation for two weeks.
Asana: restorative poses including a backbend, a forward bend, inversion, and twist. Savasana with deep relaxation.
Pranayama: slow, deep breathing

Client/Group progress summary

Client has made good progress on his goals. Instead of walking meditation, he practices swimming meditation by counting his strokes and focusing on the water and patterns of light at the bottom of the pool. Client likes the "peace is in me" mantra meditation but has not been practicing regularly. He intends to work on this.
Today was the last of our six intended sessions, so I asked the client if he feels he has received everything he wanted from yoga therapy or if he would like to continue. He said he wants to come next week, then move to every other week for sessions for a while.

Reflection and self-evaluation

I'm still struggling with terrible insomnia. Today, I took a nap an hour before my session with this client. While sleeping, I was startled awake by a spider (or something) biting me three times on the neck in quick succession. I felt extremely frustrated by this. I even said out loud, "Really??! I can't just get some rest??" So I wanted to cancel this session, but went ahead with it. I did everything I intended to do with the client except teach alternate nostril breathing.

Final Client/Group ReportAfter seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake)
Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report.
Plan for next session

Yoga nidra; alternate nostril breathing; seated meditation
