Homework assignment to client/group

For your physical body - continue the gentle mobilization of your knees (and any other body part, really!)

For your energetic body - try to “catch the mind” by counting: inhale 1, exhale 2, inhale 3, exhale 4, inhale 5, exhale 6. And do it as often as you need to.

For your emotions - explore the practice of noticing where you feel emotions in your body.

Remember to “feel it - let it go” as needed - breathing in to feel whatever it is, breathing out to let it go.

For your mind - a few things…
Look for a mantra or affirmation that resonates with you. Maybe that will come from one of the new books, or a prayer, or something from class. Practice it whenever your mind needs something more than the breath to focus on. You can try, “I am in control of my mind and body.” until something better comes along.
Also Sutra 2.33 pratipaksha bhavana is something to explore - raising the opposing wave, or cultivating the opposite. I found a short article by one of my classmates about it.
You have the power to choose. With awareness comes choice, and that is not only in your actions, but also your thoughts.

And in the spiritual realm - Introducing the niyamas (observances), specifically Ishvara pranidhana. Here’s a quote about it that I like: “With Isvara pranidhana, we go through life with an expanded vision. Emotion is transmuted into devotion, as we realize that we, along with everyone and everything, are being consciously and lovingly cared for every moment in the best way possible. As the scriptures declare, not even an atom can move without the will of God. If that faith and surrender is there, nothing will ever disturb your peace. Obstacles become opportunities—adversities, blessing in disguise. The mind will retain its undisturbed calmness, and we will rest in our true divine nature always.”

Discussion

Client/Group progress summary

Decided to go for a drive on rainy days, practicing witness in nature, adding mantra/affirmation: feel it, let it go, using JFS for knees, reading the empath books, resonating with Book of Awakening, has not clicked on nidra link, boot gone, but occasionally using foot brace at home, finding awareness of physical sensations of emotions

Reflection and self-evaluation

This is evolving and going into all areas, introducing Ishvara Pranidhana in HW - see how that resonates.
Client expressed feeling uncomfortable when another teacher talked about her altar - I shared that “it’s all God” is how I think about it, it’s different names for God, and that resonated with this client.

Final Client/Group ReportAfter seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake)
Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report.
Plan for next session

Will be 2 weeks until next session - I will bring the Yamas and Niyamas book if the reading resonates and she wants to continue with that. Continue to modify poses and refine practices based on feedback.
