| Homework assignment to client/group | Asana – client holds tension in the form of contracting in the upper body. Additionally, her work as a massage therapist causes her to make contracting movements. She has been assigned stretching and opening asana’s on a chair. Breathing practice (breathing is portable she can take it and do it anywhere). Nadi Sudi to purify and calm the nervous system whenever she needs it. Meditation on the breath. Notice feelings of Aversion to husband’s illness (identify them) and notice and observe in herself how that comes on/up and what happens within. Understanding this as a perception of the mind – Vritti as per the teaching of Sutra 1.2 which we discussed. Client was instructed to introspect on these thoughts and resultant reactions to her body and mind. |

| Client/Group progress summary | Client identified that she contracts holding tension in the upper body all the time. She works in a contracted position, and she contracts her body as a reaction to her husband’s illness. We discussed the Stress Response Education, including external and internal stressors. Client identified several internal stressors such as negative self-talk and need for perfection, but she needed a little help in realizing that one of her internal stressors is the aversion to her husband’s illness. We discussed and applied aversion to her husband’s illness seeing this as “the rising of the mind into ripples” as discussed in Sutra 1.2 “The restraint of the modifications of the mind-stuff is Yoga.” |
| Reflection and self-evaluation | The asana really helped the client to see where her body is usually contracted. Client said “she felt a little more guided.” I felt prepared, and that I provided just the right amount of asana/discussion/information. |
| Final Client/Group Report | After seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake) Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report. |
