| Homework assignment to client/group | Everyday Sadana as follows: Recall the understanding received in Sutra 1.2: The restraint of the modifications of the mind-stuff is Yoga. “If you can control the rising of the mind into ripples, you will experience Yoga.” Make an effort to nip the intrusive thoughts in the bud each and every time they arise. |
| Activities | We had an in person session: |
| Client/Group progress summary | Client said she felt so relaxed after the Hatha Yoga and Yoga Nidra class her mind stopped worrying. We practiced a few minutes of meditation a few times during this session. She likes doing the SRF asana’s because it shuts down her mind. We review of Brahmari breath. We discussed Praktipaksha Bhavana and if she tried to use this practice in the past week – she was not able to use it, her old patterns of rumination and self-judgement pre-dominated. We discussed being mindful. We read together Sutra 1.2: The restraint of the modifications of the mind-stuff is Yoga. Afterwards we discussed how this applies to all of us and we had more discussion about the mind. Client felt that these Sutras described her mind perfectly. We discussed that in order to change our mental conditioning we must be mindful and make the effort to change the thought patterns. Although we discussed all of this, client wonders of her ability to be able to stop her mind and behaviors. I offered that she should pray to God very sincerely for help. We spoke about her highest purpose: be a good wife and mother, and to find joy in these purpose. |
| Reflection and self-evaluation | “Do your best and leave the rest”. When the client said that she “wonders of her ability to be able to stop her mind and behaviors” - I offered that she should pray to God for help when she thinks like this. I also said that I can point the way but that she must do the work. That I am offering different things for her to try as options and that some may work better for her than others, and as an example that is why she is receiving different breathing practices. |
| Final Client/Group Report | After seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake) Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report. |
