Breath awareness
Slow deep breathing
"peace is in me" meditation
YouTube yoga nidra

Activities

Discussed client's use of pratipaksha bhavana this week regarding the need to buy a new jack for his car, and about his wife buying a desk treadmill for her work at the computer.
Reviewed his meditation practice: he practiced "peace is in me" mantra meditation twice this week (once outdoors and once indoors).
Returned to the discussion of spirituality and consciousness from the yoga perspective. He definitely connects to the Spirit in "Nature" with a capital "N." He is deeply touched by what he experiences. His mother, however, pressures him to attend church which he is not interested in at all. He only goes when required for family events.
Asana: Restorative Brook pose; restorative prone twist with bolster
Complete yoga nidra practice. Client fell asleep but did not realize he fell asleep. He greatly enjoyed the practice and plans to find some videos on YouTube. Reviewed the 5 koshas in regard to yoga nidra.
Pranayama: breath awareness and slow deep breathing

Client/Group progress summary

Client continues to make good progress. He continues to be interested in what we learn and practice together.

Reflection and self-evaluation

I was nervous about providing the yoga nidra today, so I read the script from a file on my computer. It went well. I was nervous when the client fell asleep because I wasn't sure I would be able to wake him. I chanted OM, invited him to deepen his breathing and move his body gently. He seemed to do that, but then stopped. I finally said his name gently and asked "are you with me?" He chuckled and said yes.
I ran out of time again for teaching alternate nostril breathing.

Final Client/Group ReportAfter seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake)
Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report.
Plan for next session

In two weeks, I will present the yamas and niyamas in detail. Will also do yoga nidra and/or alternate nostril breathing depending on time so I don't miss teaching the breath practice again.
