Homework assignment to client/group

Everyday Sadana as follows:
Upon awakening practice of affirmation. When you repeat the affirmation with mindfulness a few times you are starting a new pattern in the mind.

Hatha asana and SRF asana.

Meditation on the breath – a few minutes in the stillness and silence.

Recall the understanding you received in Sutra 1.3 – Then the Seer [Self] abides in His own nature. Remember that the Seer, the Self are reflected in the mind when the mind is calm. The Seer, the Knower, the True Self, the Soul are all the same thing, and this is within us.

The mind reflects the Soul/the true Self when it is totally calm. If the mind is calm, absent of thoughts, it reflects the truth - the happiness that is inside you.

When you see that your brain needs a break, instead of allowing the mind to interpret that need as texting, shopping, worrying, you can make the effort to be mindful and do something else instead to give your brain a break – go to the SRF lectures, or do Nadi Sudi to rebalance the brain, or Breath of Joy.

Make an effort to nip the intrusive thoughts in the bud each and every time they arise.

Client/Group progress summary

Client was able to start doing 5 minutes of meditation in the morning.

In this session, during the discussion of Sutra I.3, the client reflected and said “now I understand why - there is something beautiful inside of us, and I can find it.” “The Soul - I can feel it for a micro-second sometimes.” Client felt grateful for this new understanding.

During the session, several reminders were given of stopping the thought patterns that she had already identified as stressors and as painful and to nip them in the bud each and every time. I also gave an example from my life when I needed to remove a way of thinking from my life and that I did it by immediately stopping the thought and being mindful and thinking the opposite.

I offered that she should also remember to pray to God very sincerely for the help she is seeking.

Reflection and self-evaluation

Just to keep in mind - “Do your best and leave the rest”.

I think the Sutra we discussed was very helpful for the client. It was good to see that.

Final Client/Group ReportAfter seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake)
Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report.
