| Final Client/Group Report | After seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake) Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report. |

| Adjustments and adaptations you made to your care plan, | I had planned to try my session sitting in the chair but one time the group energy was rajasic and I decided to start stating to help everyone to get settled. One client in the group was getting to anxiety when laying flat so I changed her position to a more reeling position during guided meditation. One client suffers form an old knee injury and with the help of a softer mat she was able to adjust. |
| Client/Group Goals | the general goal for the group was stress reduction and they all reported that they feel supported in the group and the yoga practice helped them on different occasions. For example counting the breath helped one client to get though a stressful MRI. One client is in the progress of moving and she felt overwhelmed occasionally but the practice help her to focus on her priority. One client had a surgery coming up and she found the practice helpful to keep her in the moment and to make adjustments to her current situation. |
| Report briefly on each Kosha below | Progress toward wellness or worsening reported by the client/group or that you observed in the following areas |
| Physical level | The age range of the group was between 45 and 66. All of the group members were ambulatory and relatively flexible to participate in lesions in the chair as well as on the floor. The goal of each group member was to improve flexibility and balance. One group member in particular enjoyed the heal to toe balance pose and decided to continue this at home, she reported improved balance. Another group member, who's a runner, particularly enjoyed hamstring stretches with the blocks. The postures were adjusted to their levels and abilities and everyone was able to participate. |
| Energetic level | The overall energy level of the group was rajasic. Sometimes the practice was changed from starting in the chair to standing. Also the group enjoyed the breath assessment and breathing practices. The group also enjoyed different levels of difficulty in their practice to keep themselves focused and interested. |
| Emotional | The general tendency of the group was going more towards anxiety. Feeling overwhelmed with different challenges in their lives and sometimes losing focus. The group members were very supportive towards each other and were easily able to bond and establish a sense of community. By supporting each other they often found themselves in a calmer and more focused stage. |
| Intellectual / Sense of self | From the beginning the group had a pretty positive sense of self. This was deepened by the acceptance and the support they gave each other. All group members tended to process emotions more through thinking. They were able to shift towards sensations by being on the mat and focusing on breathing and the sensation in their body. This brought them more into the present moment. It helped them develop a better sense of self, limitations, and progress. |
| Spiritual orientation and support plan | The yogic concepts we used were Ahimsa ( nonviolence), Satya (truthfulness), Astray(non stealing), Brahmacharya(non excess). Each group member was able to relate and provide different examples in their own life. For example, we emphasized nonviolence towards our body with honoring our bodies and not going over the edge with pain. Truthfulness to bee honest about our challenges and limitations in life. Non stealing, for example, not stealing time from ourselves and from others by over scheduling ourselves. Nonexcess, for example, only eating till we're 80 percent full. |
| Additional Information | |
| Feedback received from client/group, anecdotal or written | I received overall very positive feedback from the group. Their main points were that they enjoyed the tea ceremony. They enjoyed the connection with each group member. They enjoyed that they were able to talk and ask questions during the session. They enjoyed the pace of the practice. They enjoyed my explanations. |
| Sample of homework given between sessions (after initial homework) | One group member wanted to work specifically on balance, so she would work on heal to toe movements. Another group member wanted to work on increasing her flexibly, so she worked on hamstring stretches with blocks and the figure four stretch. Another group member wanted to work on breathing practices, so she tried alternate nostril breathing and counting. She specifically enjoyed counting the in and out breath. This was particularly helpful during her MRI. |
| Personal reflection from doing client/group. | |
| Rough estimate of time spent in preparation and follow up documentation per session | 8 hours |
| What you would change with benefit of hindsight | I need to have better time management. So I will always set a timer. |
| Questions, problems, areas in which you’d like more support | I got all of my questions answered during my mentoring sessions. During my mentoring sessions for example, one question I had was how to encourage the group members to do their homework while not coming across as punitive. My mentor suggested techniques through motivational interviewing. |
| Did you enjoy your service? | Yes I enjoyed my service, especially the energy and community in the group and the way the group came together and supported each other to the point that we celebrated the end of our group with a pot luck dinner at a group members small farm. |
