SAVASANA - We are used to engaging our muscles and our brains to achieve our goals, yet in savasana we must become equally skilled at letting all that activity go in order for the pose’s beneficial effects to arise. It’s hard to let go of the idea that everything important happens when you are moving and taking action. Yet a deeper part of yourself waits for those moments when you are [completely] relaxed to reveal its truth. A feeling of connection, clarity, [all-knowingness], love, or joy may arise from this state of ease [and relaxation] - a taste of what meditation offers. – Yoga Journal

Client/Group progress summary

Several chose the chair today for part of class. Some who said they wouldn’t be getting on the floor got on the floor. Some shared aches and pains and one is recovering from an injury.
Most quieted really well, and some seemed to appreciate the rest. One commented on how much I addressed the mind, so we’ll see if they come back.

Reflection and self-evaluation

I’m learning to deal with the comparisons from these seniors. I mean, they need to choose which class is best, but they feel the need to tell me what’s different between me and another teacher. I’ll see if they come back 🙂
Some of them also frequently comment on my lack of use of Namaste.
I don’t have a problem with that conversation anymore, and I handle it differently depending on who asks. I’m thinking about making up a flyer to hand out when folks ask, but I don’t want to make them ask other teachers why they DO use it, so maybe I won’t do that.
I felt pretty good about my ability to teach a class today where suddenly everyone wants to do something different.

Final Client/Group ReportAfter seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake)
Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report.
Plan for next session

Definitely mixed reaction to the lying down part of class today. I already know I need to change it up for these folks. They like class being on time, but that’s the extent of the ‘routine' so I’ll probably go back to a plan from a few weeks ago, unless I have a brainstorm again.
I have several lesson plans made up for this class, and working on ahimsa and rest from various angles, as well as challenging balance and mobility.
