| Client/Group progress summary | The client progressed well during the course of our sessions, reducing her self-reported stress level and her physical pain. She was at a 3 on the Likert Scale for chronic pain at intake and was at a 0 and reports that this began at session four and continued until our last session. The client’s anxiety was visibly reduced as the sessions progressed, with her breathing being observably deeper and her speech being less excited and fast. She shared that she recognizes that “I need to get comfortable hearing my own voice” and that our sessions were “divinely timed” because she “didn’t realize how much [emotions] [she] was carrying that was impacting [her] on a daily basis” until our sessions. She also shared that she felt if she allowed herself to process the grief she felt for the death of her grandfather that he would feel further away. We discussed through yoga philosophy how pain is an obstacle and by continuing to release the pain of the grief she may actually be closer to the love that she feels for him. |
| Reflection and self-evaluation | I felt really good about how our sessions went, even though at times there were unexpected outcomes like the deep grief release this client experienced in a past session. I am glad that she arrived at a place where she recognized that she was experiencing suppression of her grief as what she thought was a protective method, but recognized the harm that the suppression was causing and how it was manifesting as anger and physical pain. This is a client that I hope to support again in the Fall for a few month sessions. I have provided a referral to a psychologist in her area that can support her for mental health therapy. |
| Final Client/Group Report | After seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake) Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report. |
