| Homework assignment to client/group | Practice safe alignment we worked on when he does supine shoulder extension work and when he does happy baby pose. Continue shoulder stretches with strap and neck stretches to help relieve headaches. Slow deep breathing, as well as first noticing when he is tensing his abdomen/jaw to promote stress relief. |
| Activities | Reviewed client's homework. He has been doing chest/shoulder stretches and neck stretches regularly. He stated he did well with breath work for about a week but then forgot about it. |
| Client/Group progress summary | Client was surprised about the adjustments I helped him make in his poses because he had been in the habit of trying to go too far. When I explained the importance of the proper alignment, especially due to his issues with his shoulders and his lower back, he understood. Client really enjoyed the yoga nidra and said he felt "great" afterwards. |
| Reflection and self-evaluation | I liked working with the client on alignment in certain asana since this is something that hasn't come up very much with my other clients so far. I believe I have lots of useful knowledge and experience in this area. I enjoyed sharing the yoga nidra practice. I'm having some trouble deciding how to introduce yoga philosophy with this client. |
| Final Client/Group Report | After seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake) Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report. |
| Plan for next session | Restorative asana; alternate nostril breathing; maybe pratipaksha bhavana; discussion regarding his meditation practice. |
