Homework assignment to client/group

I explained and assigned 6 poses to add to her routine to improve her IBS condition, they are:
Chile Pose,
Knee-to-chest,
Reclined Butterly,
Supine Spinal Twist,
Squat
Legs up the wall

I also suggested creating an altar & daily prayer

Activities

I began today's session by checking in with Reina about how she was feeling and whether she had noticed any physical or mental changes or challenges since our intake session. She stated
no major changes and she is practicing yoga 5/week and other activities as well.
Then, I led a seated body scan to bring her to the present moment and release any tension from her physical body.
Next, I asked her about her hatha practice, her current practice includes warrior I & II, forward/back bending, tree pose, and side bending pose. Interestingly, there were no floor poses in her practice.
I explained some poses that she can benefit for her IBS condition and demonstrated first and
practiced together 5 poses, they are Chile Pose, Knee-to-chest, Reclined Butterly, Supine Spinal Twist,) Squat and suggested that she can do Legs up the wall before bedtime. She can
add those poses to her current practice.
After asana practice, I led Yoga Nidra as final relaxation, she stated normally she does not have a problem going back to sleep after she has an agitated dream but sometimes, she needs to listen to 12 minutes of guided meditation. She said she would like to record yoga nidra at the next session so that she can listen to it when she needs it.
I then suggested creating an altar, offering fruits and flowers so that she could pray every day to honor diseased family members. Also, I mentioned, “Olfendas on Dia de los Muertos” (day of the deal offering), she knew about it and said, “What a great idea! My sister does it. I never thought of doing it myself, but of course, that would be honoring them.
To conclude the session, I guided her through alternate nostril breathing.

Client/Group progress summary

This was the 1st session after assessment, I did not see any progress at this time.

Reflection and self-evaluation

She maintains a healthy lifestyle, she has 5/week yoga practice at home and at the studio, also she plays pickleball and aquarobics and the gym. I think that’s g great way to reduce her mental stress and shift her mind away from her concerns about her husband’s health. Another problem she was expressing would be improved by creating and maintaining an altar. It can be therapeutic, providing a sense of peace. It helps Reina express her emotions and memories, contributing to emotional healing.

Final Client/Group ReportAfter seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake)
Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report.
Plan for next session

I will continue to follow this care plan for the next several sessions. I will check with her about her sleep and agitated dreams. And any benefits from homework assignments to determine the need for any modification to the care plan.
