Final Client/Group ReportAfter seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake)
Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report.

Adjustments and adaptations you made to your care plan,

I didn't make any significant adjustments to the care plan. My intention was to simply meet the client where she was at during each session keeping in mind her primary goals of pain management for her back and reintroduction of breath practices. While there were no obvious breakthroughs, I do believe she benefitted most from the breath practices.

Client/Group Goals

The client’s primary goals were to reincorporate breathing practices into her daily life and explore asanas that are safe and beneficial for chronic pain management and her overall well-being.
All in all, I think we made good progress with her interest in breathing practices. We worked with the basics from 3-Part Breath and Naddi Suddhi, which she appreciated. She found 3-Part Breath to be helpful before bed.
at our last session, she had been experiencing recurring bouts of anxiety attacks - Ujjayi was just what she needed. It was gratifying for me to see how she could let go and find some ease as she worked with this breath technique.

Report briefly on each Kosha belowProgress toward wellness or worsening reported by the client/group or that you observed in the following areas
Physical level

I didn't notice any significant change - for better or worse - in the client's physical being. She seemingly manages her chronic back pain with relative ease. She listens to her body when experiencing pain or discomfort. She's determined to keep going whatever it takes.

Energetic level

Client's energy was mostly consistent during our time together. She knows auto-pilot well and has amazing determination to keep going. In my opinion, her busyness is a form of avoidance, which is all too common in our culture.

Emotional

Client was mostly guarded and glib about her emotions. I could sense the contraction in her body. It was easy to see how she holds a lot of emotion and expends it through rigorous exercise to maintain balance.
While I believe I created a safe, accepting and open space for the client, I respected her boundaries / resistance about opening up. At times it seemed as though she was holding a beach ball under water - this was really apparent during our last session, as the anxiety had become too much.

Intellectual / Sense of self

Client presented with a confident sense of self. She knows how to keep going regardless of what might be rumbling in the background.

Spiritual orientation and support plan

Client did not want to discuss anything spiritual. I presented various concepts - Sutra 1.2, Locks & Keys, Vairagya, etc. in terms of mindfulness. She appreciated my sharing but didn't engage with any of it.

Additional Information
Feedback received from client/group, anecdotal or written

I received various expressions of gratitude and acknowledgement for our work together. After our final session, she thanked me for the homework I had given her re VN activation. She then said that I'm a good teacher. 🙂

Sample of homework given between sessions (after initial homework)

- Shrug & Sigh - from a comfortable standing or seated position - shrug shoulders up to ears then let go with an audible sigh. Repeat 3-5 x, or as often as you’d like to realize desired effect. Handy tool for shifting your energy, letting go Vairagya and coming back into the present moment.
- Kirtan Kriya - I’m glad that you enjoyed exploring this powerful and subtle practice. For details, check out Kripalu’s article on Kirtan Kriya. Fascinating article with lots of links to scientific research noting myriad benefits to this 12-minute meditation practice.
- Anjaneyasana (Low Lunge) & Ardha Hanumanasana (Half Split) - I’m glad you found some benefit in stretching out your calves and hamstrings. I think you’re right in practicing this sequence daily.
- Vairagya - Letting Go - keep this in mind as you work with the tightness in your calves - accepting them as they are today. Perhaps take a deep breath as you recognize and acknowledge where your body is today.

Personal reflection from doing client/group.
Rough estimate of time spent in preparation and follow up documentation per session8 hours
What you would change with benefit of hindsight

Two things come to mind - first I would relax and trust the process, then I'd trust myself more knowing that I do know a lot and have plenty to offer clients.

Questions, problems, areas in which you’d like more support

I'd like some support in how to support clients on a deeper spiritual level when they have lack of interest or resistance to discussing spiritual matters. Perhaps it's a matter of Aparigraha, that is letting go for me.
I appreciate and respect people who self-identify at Agnostic, yet feel for them as I sense they're missing out on a deeper awareness and experience of themselves and life.
This brings to mind, Satchidananda's tenet: "Truth Is One. Paths Are Many." Perhaps this is where I'm to meet people - where they're at trusting their paths will unfold in the appropriate time and way. It's not mine to force or fix.

Did you enjoy your service?

I did enjoy my service. I especially appreciated the learning opportunities that my client provided me during our time together.
