CHECK-IN / FEEDBACK

FOCUS Our practice was based upon the Yogic Teaching of Pratyahara. We practiced Brahmari so client could experience turning awareness within by withdrawing from external influences and five senses to connect with himself and whatever is going on within.

ASANAS - we continued with strengthening sequence then shifted focus to opening up the back of the legs with some asanas, including Janu Shirshasana and Uttitha Padasgusthasana because client mentioned feeling tightness and cramps in calves, hamstrings when walking.

AYURVEDA - we discussed Abhyanga, an Ayurvedic practice of self-massage.

PRANAYAMA - We practiced 3-part breath then tried Brahmari.

YOGA NIDRA - another Pratyahara Practice intended to help client reconnect with his body.

Client/Group progress summary

Client is obviously enjoying and benefiting from our sessions. He's attentive and more authentic with feedback and insights. Didn't care for Brahmari, said it was 'weird' - no problem. He commented throughout about the confounding nature of Long COVID and how he manages his days. Can't believe he's living in the same body, as he used to run 35 miles a week or more. Now he's lucky if he's up for 10K steps.
While he says he doesn't practice any of his homework, I do sense some subtle shifts, as he practices Asanas and Pranayama.

Reflection and self-evaluation

I'm glad to see that our YT-client relationship is unfolding in a positive way. As always, I'm learning as much from the client as I hope they're learning from me. Interesting having one male client - energy is different and enjoyable, not as intimidating as it initially was.
I find myself having to keep it simple and not feel like I always have to show up with a bunch of new teaching concepts, asanas, etc. I sometimes feel like I'm not prepared if I don't spend at least several hours prepping for each session. Grateful for the awareness and leaning into what's enough.

Final Client/Group ReportAfter seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake)
Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report.
Plan for next session

We'll continue working on Asanas, breath awareness and body connection. I also plan to introduce at least one energizing Pranayama practice. Will probably talk about Vairagya too.
