Activities

Client had been away for about a month, some of it traveling to visit family.
Discussed True Self and false self, and how they show up in our lives. I tied in discussion of the koshas, pratipaksha bhavana, and the metaphor of meditation being like watching boats (thoughts) on a river without climbing aboard the boats.
Discussed a list of positive words that describe the client.
Asana: restorative backbend, forward bend, and twist
Pranayama: breath awareness, and slow deep breathing

Client/Group progress summary

Today, the client uncovered her "defiant little girl" that refuses to open her toolkit of teachings and practices even though she knows they are exactly what she needs to feel better. We talked about how this defiance is something aimed toward her father and NOT toward God, who loves her and wants the best for her.
Client ended up giving antidepressants a try, but did not like the side effects. She wants to feel better by using the tools she has gained in yoga therapy, and through spiritual practices in her Christian tradition.

Reflection and self-evaluation

I had a lot of brain fog today, so it was difficult following the client and forming my own thought patterns. The client particularly enjoyed the restorative poses, and our conversation about her "defiant little girl."

Final Client/Group ReportAfter seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake)
Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report.
