Presenting Problemhip, thigh, leg pain and reduced flexibility right shoulder due to fracture
Physical

Main health concerns: Has fibromyalgia for 20+ years, is on medication (she said too many to list). Has undiagnosed outer hip, thigh, leg pain both legs. Not constant but pain in legs if sitting for more than ½ hour and sleeping on sides. Reduced flexibility in right shoulder

Client/Group goalsStrength and increase flexibility
Energetic

Client has been to many PT,OT in the past to help with pain in hip. Doctors are unable to pinpoint a problem. She sees a pilates instructor and weight trainer weekly to help with strength. She has a private meditation coach. She wants yoga therapy to help with pain and flexibility. She was optimistic, present and alert

Emotional

Client is a CEO of a firm and under a lot of stress. She tries to breathe and meditate daily. She knows she needs to breathe and uses a standing desk so she can be present and alert.

Spiritual orientation and needs

Client knows everything is connected but I didn't ask and she didn't volunteer if she was religious. Client so far keeps everything close to her chest.

Intellectual / Sense of self

Client is very self aware. She was reserved with me and offered very little information other than what I asked. She is very eager to start YT. She really hope YT will help with her flexibility and strength.

Yoga philosophy/wisdom research reference(s)

Yoga sutra 1.14 - Without break, with sincere devotion becomes firmly rooted. I chose this because client seems to have her hands in many pots. ex. she's doing pilates, weight lifting, meditation coach and now yoga. She doesn't seem like she knows what she wants. I believe pilates, weight lifting etc are all very important but if I can show her that if she sticks to yoga and do it with all earnest everyday even for a few minutes each day it becomes firmly rooted.

Scientific research reference(s), why chosen, how you plan to incorporate 1-3

starting with feeling grounded. I asked her to stand and notice her feet position, the weight distribution, rocking, feeling her toes, feeling stable, engaging arches, notice her Posture . I feel the client is not centered. Even though she had a high position, she seems to have her mind in all sorts of directions. Can she feel grounded and centered? I suggested she notice her posture, starting at the feet. Go walk outside on the grass and see how that feels.

Final Client/Group ReportAfter seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake)
Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report.
