Homework assignment to client/group

Schedule 10-15 selfcare breaks 2x/day - and tell everyone in the house she needs to be left alone except for a true emergency. She can use the time for asana, pranayama, and/or deep relaxation.
Emailed a handout on raja yoga for her to read and ponder so we can discuss next time.

Activities

Client had a stressful week with contractors continuing to work in the kitchen, disrupting household patterns. She stated she reached the limit of what she could handle this week. Discussed how we all have these breaking points, although they vary for each person.
Asana: supine pelvic tilts, plus stretches for low back, hips, hamstrings, and inner thighs
Pranayama: deeper instruction and practice of brahmari and alternate nostril breathing

Client/Group progress summary

Client has been very stressed. However, this morning, she made a point to get up early so she could spent 15 mins just sitting outside in the quiet enjoying the quiet, the fresh air, the birds, the grass on her feet, etc. She stated she loved this and didn't want the time to end. I praised her for listening to her body/mind and giving herself this time.
She made a brace for her abdomen (to support her enlarged uterus) and has been wearing it more. She states it helps her lower back release stress/tension. In order to do this, she had to ignore her husband and a friend who have tried to convince her that wearing a brace teaches her abdominal muscles to be lazy. We discussed the fact that she has other stuff going on besides just extra weight in her abdomen and weak abdominal muscles. So, what might be true for other people doesn't necessarily apply to her.

Reflection and self-evaluation

I feel the client and I are doing well working together. Today was a nice combination of discussion, lessons, and practice. I felt good about the session.

Final Client/Group ReportAfter seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake)
Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report.
