Homework assignment to client/group

Chest/neck stretches; 3-part breath
Working with tapas in daily life interactions

Activities

Reviewed alignment in asana for shoulders, hips, lower back.
Reviewed slow deep breathing. Client is doing much better with getting complete 3-part breaths.
Discussed yamas, niyamas, and kleshas. Client immediately saw connections between non-grasping and attachment/aversion. Client also saw the applicability of tapas for his interactions with people.
Pranayama: 3-part breath; alternate nostril breathing

Client/Group progress summary

Client is doing much better with working with his body where it is now as he's aging and experiencing aches and pains. He understands how to do things in moderation to help himself feel better. For example, he uses diet, exercise (including swimming, weight training, and yoga), breathing, pain medication, and doctors visits appropriately.

Reflection and self-evaluation

I enjoyed having more discussion of yoga philosophy today with this client. Up until now, he has seemed more focused on the physical aspects of yoga therapy, but now he's beginning to see that there's more to the practice.

Final Client/Group ReportAfter seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake)
Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report.
Plan for next session

Review his work with tapas and aparigraha.
Restorative asana (we didn't get to that today)
Kapalabhati and alternate nostril breathing as preparation for meditation practice.
