| Homework assignment to client/group | I had just completed a training with PainCare Aware, which encouraged offering a client a practice that would be challenging, a practice thatwould be calming, and a practice that would serve as an escape - physically, mentally or both. Together we decided her challenge for the week would be the Anja Bridges and her moving meditation walk. Her calming practice would be Dirga Swasam - encouraging her exhales to be longer, smoother, and softer (PainCare Aware practice), and her escape would be five minutes of scrolling on her phone. |
| Activities | Began with Check In and Awareness Practice. Client reported having a very stressful week - sheand her husband had to make changes with their childcare situation (her 18mo old daughter, Anja was with her for the session), and again had not had time to attempt homework. The client took more time sharing with me, and was more vulnerable in sharing emotions than with previoussessions. As we talked, her daughter easily played with various toys and climbed on her mom’s lap. Commented on how Anja was enjoying the present moment - exploring the room with curiosity and wonder. The client laid down with her knees bent and her daughter laughed and leaned over her knees - I suggestedshe do a few breaths of full bridge with her daughter on her lap. Cued client to breathe with the movement - her daughter laughed and loved “going for a ride” on her mom’s lap. Advised client she could do her homework as these “Anja Bridges” as a way to do something nourishing for herself and play with her daughter. |
| Final Client/Group Report | After seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake) Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report. |
| Plan for next session | With uncertain childcare and family visits on the upcoming month, client agreed to check in with me after Thanksgiving about any future sessions. |
