Activities

Bryan - very rajasic to start, had much to share with me, lots of mental and physical energy.

Started standing with cleansing breaths, down dog supported by chair, chair high lunge with emphasis on long, slow exhale.

He wanted to explore balance - we worked with tree and eagle, in honor of the 4th.

Moved to seated work: 6MOS, pigeon, joint mobility of ankles and feet, hands, neck and shoulders, eye movements.

Did some tensing and releasing as we started Shavasana - he was able to be still with his eyes closed.

At the end he reported be calm and “ready for a nap.”

Reflection and self-evaluation

Because the client was very delusional - at first I was not sure if I would be able to encourage him to begin practice - I demonstrated every movement, one step at a time. Kept encouraging him to tune into his breathing, asked him about what he was feeling in his body with each posture we explored.

In many ways he was the most challenging client I have worked with so far at VCU, but it was a rewarding experience. I may see him again next Tuesday.

Final Client/Group ReportAfter seeing your client/group (for at least 4 sessions including interactive intake)
Please remember practicum is a learning experience. You’ll learn more from sharing what’s accurate than from what might “look good”. Things you did well, not so well, problems and questions are all valid and useful tools to teach you. We can’t serve you to become the best clinician you can be if you don’t share your challenges and mistakes. Success is anything from which you learn. You can continue to add Session entries after submitting this Final Client/Group Report.
