Feedback on Comprehension of Core Concepts

This client is suffering from loneliness, depression, and alcohol addiction/withdrawal. Alcohol is a depressant. When we look at depression, addiction, there is a lot of heaviness so more attention to the energizing practices-specifically pranamaya kosha as a key teaching focus may have been a more beneficial approach initially. It's like he is stuck in the mud. The place where a beautiful lotus flower emerges from! So long story short, I would have liked to seen your plan shift (especially after your client's feedback with kaphalbhati) from your initial thought of as the key teaching to the pranamaya kosha then manomaya. I am glad you added in joint freeing.

Continuing to practice kapalabhati would be good too in follow up. I still don't understand the importance of him being able to sit on the floor. How does that help him with his suffering?

"Also, I would suggest practicing hatha yoga to make his body to be flexible a little more so that he can stay sitting on the floor."

Observations, Recommendations, Alternative Solutions Feedback

I am not sure why, when I read your report, that you commented numerous times that he cannot sit on the floor. We have the tools to adapt to the client.

"I asked my client to find if it's possible for him to sit on the floor comfortably by next session".
I feel that encouraging him to be comfortable regardless of sitting on the floor is way more important and, although you say overall he had a good experience, that he may have felt more successful with the practices which equals more confidence which equals more uplifted energy and getting out of the mud. Perhaps you could have offered him a 1 minute meditation. . . why did it have to be 5. This client needs to discover successes. He may already be feeling like he has failed as a father, as a husband.

In your reflection you say you would do the same thing with a similar client. When your client said “I feel my head is clear and more energy in my body”, if it were in the first session, (that is unclear), you could have ran with that in regard to the above comments. You intuitively knew that your client needed to "energize the body and mind".
