Report Information

How did you envision working with the client(s) to incorporate the selected teaching? (Define the plan)

After having them take the test, I shared info on foods best suited for their dosha and the current season. I suggested eating three meals a day in a focused and quiet setting to be able to eat in a relaxed state.

What branch(es) of IY did you use? How does each support your goal/relate to the key teaching?

I'm not sure how it fits in with Hatha, Raja, Bhakti, Karma, Juana or Japa yoga other than it's more of a sister science and that it supports them all in a holistic way. Also eating a balanced dosha diet helps to balance the 3 gunas as the correct food can help balance tamas and rajas and cultivate sattvic harmony.

Short notes on time with client:

Client was eager to see the food list and I think it made it easier to have a list to go by. She did feel perplexed a bit on creating meals but I reminded her to keep it simple and easy.

Follow up suggestions for your client (whether with you or on their own):

I suggested that she continue to eat simply, staying away from processed and fast foods and eating a vegetarian diet to maintain balance.

Reflection
Did you apply your intended plan once you met with the client(s)? Was the goal achieved? Explain.

Yes. Client did see positive results with less digestive issues, bloating and heart burn by eating Whole Foods for her dosha. By focusing on eating Whole Foods she realized how much processed foods she actually was eating. When we started she didn't feel that she actually ate that much. It was a challenge for her to slow down and consciencely eat her meals but as the week went on it became easier and she noticed she was eating less and enjoyed her food more.

Did you have to adapt anything in your plan? What lessons did you learn?

No adaptation. I was careful to not to do "too much" for the client and to allow her to find her way as long as she continued to make progress and seemed interested in progressing. If she had felt stuck or felt unable to do this experiment I would have offered a sample of some meals she could eat.

If you are faced with the same situation again in the future, would you approach it in the same way? Why or why not? What went well? What you might change and why? Summarize.

Yes I think I would do the same. It's a pretty simple approach to eating s long as you can keep the client from overthinking it. I may offer in the future some recipes or a one day eating example to help spark their creativity to making meals from simple foods.
