Report Information

How did you envision working with the client(s) to incorporate the selected teaching? (Define the plan)

I envisioned and then incorporated the practice of imagery into the guided deep relaxation component immediately after the asana portion of our weekly appointments via Zoom.

What branch(es) of IY did you use? How does each support your goal/relate to the key teaching?

Hatha—Physical Practices
Although the practice of imagery is not asana, it is a physical practice in the sense that it's working with the body, calming the body/mind to attain a more sattvic state to then go deeper.
Jnana—Who am I? Self-realization
The practice of imagery is working toward Jnana by first calming the body/mind so that the client may then ask "who am I." With the long-term goal of building the practice from directive (my guidance and recordings) to receptive (the client observing their thoughts and feelings), the practice will eventually allow the client to welcome thoughts and feelings currently in the shadows (hidden from them). This is an important step toward self-realization and avoiding spiritual bypassing.

Short notes on time with client:

The client appeared to relax progressively as we moved from conversation to the asana portion of the session, and then into the imagery component of the guided deep relaxation in all 3 sessions. There was some movement during the deep relaxation (slight twitch of ankles and legs) during the first session, but the client reported back feelings of "calmness" and "feeling centred." The client stated they were easily able to find a "calm and uplifting place" as directed in the imagery, but neither elaborated nor was asked to.

Follow up suggestions for your client (whether with you or on their own):

In the third session, I mentioned the plan/goal of incorporating an additional session of guided imagery one more time per week in the client's own time. This was met with agreeance, but they did not appear overly enthusiastic.

Reflection
Did you apply your intended plan once you met with the client(s)? Was the goal achieved? Explain.

Yes, the goal was achieved in the first 3 sessions.

Did you have to adapt anything in your plan? What lessons did you learn?

I learned that it's important to remind the client to make the resolve to be still as much as possible, and introduced 2 rounds of Sigra Savasana to assist with this.

If you are faced with the same situation again in the future, would you approach it in the same way? Why or why not? What went well? What you might change and why? Summarize.

Yes, I’d approach it in the same way because it appeared to go well.
My confidence with the guided imagery "script" increased from week 1 to week 3, but initially, I worried that I may have sounded a little too much as if I were "reading."
This will improve more with time.
