Report Information

How did you envision working with the client(s) to incorporate the selected teaching? (Define the plan)

Beginning with this client she is very overwhelmed and lost, I wanted to take very small steps and create weekly goals to help her manage the stress. Beginning with 15 minutes of talking and recording notes, followed by 10 minutes Pranayama and 15 guided meditation that. with our remaining time we will work through creating daily rituals that would work for her schedule and create some much needed self care.

What branch(es) of IY did you use? How does each support your goal/relate to the key teaching?

In our talk therapy i used the Raja Yoga teachings of Chitra Vritti Narodhnah to guide her through the loud thoughts that were keeping her from sleeping well, and effecting her work and decisions. That she is in control of her thoughts but that it takes practice and small steps.
During meditation I used the Who Am I teachings of Juana yoga because she was feeling lost and desired to understand her true self again with going through a separation she felt like she lost her identity. We came up with some self love affirmations that she could use when she felt overwhelmed and had anxiety.
After the first session our time began with the use of gentle Asana before our talk therapy because it assisted her in settling and being more comfortable.

Short notes on time with client:

This client was really open to all suggestions and made a lot of progress and wanted to incorporate more yoga into her daily life. She had never been committed to a practice.

Follow up suggestions for your client (whether with you or on their own):

We came up with a daily journal for her to have a self care ritual, an affirmation and a yoga practice with breath. She was not successful with meditation on her own even with a recorded guided mediation. But was willing to keep trying.

Reflection
Did you apply your intended plan once you met with the client(s)? Was the goal achieved? Explain.

The intended plan was applied and evolved with the client during each session. She made a large milestone of growth and wants to keep going. The goal was mostly achieved she felt supported enough to handle and accept her separation and was able to make some healthy choices in caring for her ailing Mother.

Did you have to adapt anything in your plan? What lessons did you learn?

I adapted by added in Asana at the beginning of our time together. She always walked in so tense and not focused that she need the movement to settle in. That was very successful and really aided this client between our sessions, she realized she needed a daily practice of asana to balance her stress.
There is always a lesson when dealing with stress that the calming we want to add to the with mediation and pranayama needs the physical body addressed first to bring the nervous system down.

If you are faced with the same situation again in the future, would you approach it in the same way? Why or why not? What went well? What you might change and why? Summarize.

I would approach the same. Getting to know this client through our talk and listening to what she need we were able to evolve her plan into her daily life and build a really strong self care practice for her.
This client was very open to trying everything because her stress was so high and there can often be resistance when dealing with clients with stress and anxiety.
With the Kosha model of how the bodies we are function I would address every client with this in mind.

If I was to change anything with this client or plan with a similar situation a may add EFT, because I have found it very effective in calming the nervous system and help empower clients.

I was not using EFT at the time I was working with this client.
