Report Information

How did you envision working with the client(s) to incorporate the selected teaching? (Define the plan)

Planned to play cosmic music by artist, Sadhu, with the initial 10-minute phase being a guided relaxation followed by 20 minutes of relaxation. This plan is comparable to the progressive relaxation with music cited in the Landis-Shack, et. al (2017) study resulting in improved sleep quality and reduced anxiety symptoms.

What branch(es) of IY did you use? How does each support your goal/relate to the key teaching?

There were components of hatha (physical posture, pranayama), raja (meditation and guided relaxation), and jnana (self analysis).

Short notes on time with client:

Client was relaxed, but sensed some apprehension upon arrival. Client found a relaxing savasana position and made comfortable, then led through the guided meditation with music playing in the background. Client reported "amazing relaxation" and stated he pictured trauma floating away from his body and into the sky.

Follow up suggestions for your client (whether with you or on their own):

Client given the artist's name and Spotify channel to take advantage of the music in future sessions. Client plans to do additional similar sessions in the future to assist with PTSD and anxiety symptoms.

Reflection
Did you apply your intended plan once you met with the client(s)? Was the goal achieved? Explain.

Plan was applied as intended and absolutely met the goal, evidenced by the client's report of feeling "amazing relaxation" and visualizing a release of past trauma.

Did you have to adapt anything in your plan? What lessons did you learn?

No adaptations of the plan were needed. The client moved from the initial location feeling more comfortable in a back corner of the room. The music volume seemed to go up and down a bit so that could be sequenced next time so that the softer tracks were at the beginning and end and the slightly louder tracks were in the middle.

If you are faced with the same situation again in the future, would you approach it in the same way? Why or why not? What went well? What you might change and why? Summarize.

I woudl definitely consider the plan and approach again, but keeping an open mind with the fact that a client having faced trauma may not be comfortable in certain locations, with certain music, etc., and being ready to adapt as needed is crucial to the plan's success.
