| Core Module Name | Adaptive Yoga | ||||||||
Plan Information | |||||||||
| Selected key teaching (specific core concept): | The key teaching is a gentle chair yoga practice adapting, adjusting and accommodating to client’s needs in order to reduce stress and fatigue and promote sleep. | ||||||||
| Goal for implementation with client (Specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, time-bound relating to the client): | The client will engage in a 5 minute breath and gentle chair sun salutation practice at least 1-2 times a week for 1 week to manage fatigue [MS], reduce stress, and promote sleep [Cleveland Clinic] . | ||||||||
| Relevant Client(s) Details | Client is a 59 year old female with Relapsing-remitting MS requesting a beginning practice to help with stress, fatigue and insomnia. No yoga experience. | ||||||||

Report Information | |||||||||
| How did you envision working with the client(s) to incorporate the selected teaching? (Define the plan) | Discuss the order of what is covered in the session and any client expectations. | ||||||||
| What branch(es) of IY did you use? How does each support your goal/relate to the key teaching? | Raja – pranayama to reduce stress and increase the energy flow. | ||||||||
| Short notes on time with client: | Client cancelled the session due to fatigue but agreed to a phone call guided deep relaxation and body scan meditation. Client/I agreed I would silently disconnect the call after 5 minutes. | ||||||||
| Follow up suggestions for your client (whether with you or on their own): | None in this case due to short session. | ||||||||
| Reflection | |||||||||
| Did you apply your intended plan once you met with the client(s)? Was the goal achieved? Explain. | The intended plan was not applied due to client’s fatigue. The session was substituted with a 5 minute guided deep relaxation/meditation. I believe the goal was achieved even without the benefit of the chair practice, client indicated to feeling more relaxed. | ||||||||
| Did you have to adapt anything in your plan? What lessons did you learn? | Yes. I learned that any practice is better than no practice. I’ve learned not to attach myself to the plan but to offer an alternative which is better suited to the client’s current needs. | ||||||||
| If you are faced with the same situation again in the future, would you approach it in the same way? Why or why not? What went well? What you might change and why? Summarize. | Yes, under the condition that I have an alternate teaching that is beneficial to the client. | ||||||||
| Will you be uploading suplimental images or documents? | Yes | ||||||||
| Upload supplemental images or documents | |||||||||
