Have you taken any Yoga therapy training programs? No
Do you have any special interests or capabilities that may be relevant?

I am really interested in child development and working with children/teenagers. I am also very interested in chanting and sound healing, I took piano lessons for 12 years and currently practice on a harmonium.

Please list any other training or experience that you think is relevant.

I studied Ayurveda for several months in person with a Vaidya in Glendale.

Please describe your studies and understanding of Ayurveda.

Ayurveda is the study of life, of nature, and of our true nature. It is a way of understanding the 5 elements and their interplay, and how nature is always manifesting according to the need to balance these 5 elements. When the 5 elements are out of balance, disease begins. This has 6 stages, only the later stages are detectable by modern medicine, but one who has fine tuned their senses can detect the imbalance at its initial stage. Balance is key to lasting happiness and spiritual growth. When the body is balanced it can meditate with ease, and so yoga and Ayurveda have always gone hand in hand.

Please describe your studies and understanding of yoga philosophy.

Yoga is a system to liberate the Ahamkar to know the Mahad. Yoga philosophy teaches that all is one, creation occurs through the play of Purusha and Prakritti, with Prana as the conduit, and gradually descends into the 3 gunas, the sense organs, and the 5 elements. We may perceive reality as these separate objects in relationship to ourselves, but yoga philosophy teaches that all originate from the same source and that through proper discrimination, purification of the senses and clear understanding we too can perceive the indivisible spirit in creation, knowing that nothing is separate, everything is connected. There are various systems to create such a realization, Ashtanga, Tantra, Advaita, Bhakti to name a few, but essentially all are focused on transforming the sense of self out its smallness into its pervasiveness.

What are your expectations as a student? What do you hope to gain, learn, or work on?

I hope to learn tools to maintain the deep stability that is necessary for spiritual growth. I want to work on becoming confident in my knowledge and experience as a living example of the potential for healing and transformation.

Why do you want to enroll in Integral Yoga Therapy Certification (IYTh)?

I want to help people find balance, beginning with myself. I am dedicated to the yogic path and I cannot imagine having a better career than one which incorporates the yogic principles.

How do you intend to use yoga therapy in your practice, both personally and professionally?

I intend to use it to create a daily practice that is suitable for my specific needs as well as using it to help individuals find a practice suitable for their needs. I also see myself bringing these practices to children and teenagers as well as to recovering addicts.

Given your current or future commitments, how will you create the time and space to achieve your goals for the IYTh program and fulfill all of the training requirements?

As of now my time is relatively free and my finances are relatively secure so I do not foresee it being a difficulty finding time. As far as management goes I am good at creating commitments and meeting my expectations.

Are there any current scheduling conflicts or anticipated events that could affect your ability to attend any of the scheduled modules?

No
