Then about 10 years ago, I started practicing on my own (in addition to going to a class) at home at least 2 days per week. In 2018, I got 500 hr certification from Kaivalya Yoga TT (online course) and started practicing more regularly and teaching two classes a week (one a work and another one in my home studio, until the pandemic. Since I enrolled in BTT, I have kept daily sadhana which includes meditation, pranayama and hatha yoga. I am now teaching a class online and will start teaching an in person class again soon.

Essay QuestionsPlease answer the following open-ended questions fully and concisely.
Please describe your past/current Yoga teaching experience including location, timeframe, population taught, etc.

Before the pandemic, I taught a class at work. Most of my students are younger population with beginner to intermediate level. I also taught at my home studio; the students are older folks some of which have limited mobility. I have been teaching regularly since 2018.

Have you taken any Yoga therapy training programs? No
Do you have any special interests or capabilities that may be relevant?

I am interested in spiritual studies and would like offer what I have learned to help others.

Please list any other training or experience that you think is relevant.

I took pranayama, meditation and raja yoga (online) workshops at Yogaville, in addition to the BTT and RYTT programs.

Please describe your studies and understanding of Ayurveda.

I have to say that I do not know much about Ayurveda. All I know is that it is the science of healing: keeping balance between body, mind and consciousness. I have signed up for the Basic Ayurveda course which will begin next week. I hope that I will have a better understanding of this ancient science at the end of the course.

Please describe your studies and understanding of yoga philosophy.

Since I completed Raja yoga TT, I have a better understanding about yoga philosophy than I was a year ago. I fully embrace the teaching of Sri Patanjali into my daily life (at least I am trying my very best). After all, the permanent peace and happiness are within us; we just have to turn inward to find them. 🙂

What are your expectations as a student? What do you hope to gain, learn, or work on?

As a student, I expect to learn from esteem teachers and absorb information provided as much as I can. I hope to gain knowledge on how to apply yoga to alleviate physical, emotional or mental condition. Also, how to adapt asanas for those who have limited mobility. I also want to have tools that I can apply to my daily life.

Why do you want to enroll in Integral Yoga Therapy Certification (IYTh)?

Honestly, the inner voice inside my head (and heart) tells me that this is the path. I have found that integral yoga has helped me tremendously in maintaining my mental and emotional health. The benefits of Integral yoga is enormous and the more I study, the more I want to learn. I want to have more tools to offer to others who are suffering physically or emotionally.

How do you intend to use yoga therapy in your practice, both personally and professionally?

Personally, I would like to apply yoga therapy to navigate life and offer this gift to friends, family or colleagues who need it.
Professionally, I am not sure because I am still have a full time job. However, I can see that I can incorporate IYT into my hatha classes, especially many of my students are older populations.

Given your current or future commitments, how will you create the time and space to achieve your goals for the IYTh program and fulfill all of the training requirements?

I plan to study in the evening and during weekend. This has been my approach for BTT and RYTT. I can attend in person courses, especially if it does not require me to take off work for more than 2 weeks.

List any interesting things you would like to share about yourself

I work in conservation biology field, especially studying canid (dog, wolves and foxes) biology and conservation. I love all outdoor activities (hiking, paddling, climbing, caving), but I will not do sky diving (since I am afraid of height) and playing in my garden.

Are there any current scheduling conflicts or anticipated events that could affect your ability to attend any of the scheduled modules?

No. I have signed up for both Ayurveda and Stress management TT
