Essay QuestionsPlease answer the following open-ended questions fully and concisely.
Please describe your past/current Yoga teaching experience including location, timeframe, population taught, etc.

I began teaching formally in November of 2014 as a substitute teacher for Life in Balance Counseling & Wellness Center and then became a regular teacher there in 2015, teaching Children's Yoga and Family Yoga. I began teaching Family Yoga at Healing Tree Wellness Center in Floyd, Va. in January 2015. From 2015-2017, I taught informally for coworkers at my full-time jobs where we focused on yoga, meditation, and mindfulness work for allied professionals responding to children and adults impacted by interpersonal violence in our community. In May 2017, I joined the teaching faculty at Grace Yoga & Healing Pathways in Cloverdale, Va. where I taught yoga for beginners, yoga nidra, workshops, yoga for the heart, and gentle yoga. Additionally, I have taught a Yoga for Survivors series at SARA Roanoke since April 2017 - this series is designed specifically for survivors of sexual trauma stemming from abuse and assault. Currently, I teach at several community-based organizations working with trauma survivors, food & housing insecure people, and people with mobility challenges.

Have you taken any Yoga therapy training programs? No
Do you have any special interests or capabilities that may be relevant?

My experience working in crisis response has allowed me the opportunity to develop and nurture an ability to hold space, remain non-judgmental, and maintain calm during the most chaotic of circumstances. I also teach and train crisis advocates using the skills I have learned studying yoga to help them better learn the importance of stayinig connected to the Self during another's crisis.

Please list any other training or experience that you think is relevant.

I have worked with survivors of trauma for ~20 years, providing crisis intervention and support. I am also a certified aromatherapist.

Given your current or future commitments, how will you create the time and space to achieve your goals for the IYTh program and fulfill all of the training requirements?

My employer is incredible and has agreed to support me in this program, providing me the necessary time & space to commit to it. I have a lot of autonomy and flexibility, so I will be able to prioritize this as expected.
