Essay QuestionsPlease answer the following open-ended questions fully and concisely.
Please describe your past/current Yoga teaching experience including location, timeframe, population taught, etc.

I have been fortunate. Teaching has been a gift that came later in life for me. I needed a purpose as my boys were getting older and boy did I find it! I feel my dharma is to teach people the wonder of the human body. I believe if I can teach them to understand their bodies better they can understand how to take care of them better if they want to. I want to help people love their bodies at every age, ability and fitness level. Through yoga I can teach students to use pranayama and their bodies sensations to keep their mind's attention so they can learn how to be present. Emotionally I can share my journey of finding self-confidence through yoga. I believe with regular practice we can shrug off the old patterns and discover our true nature.

I teach in Livermore, Pleasanton and Dublin, CA at The Bay Club and Joya Yoga and Cycle. My age range is 15-70. Multiracial. My classes are usually waitlisted and I am very grateful for the love and support. I teach 18 classes a week. That said, I am 54 and can't keep this pace forever, which is why I am interested in your program.

Have you taken any Yoga therapy training programs? No
Please describe your studies and understanding of yoga philosophy.

What are your expectations as a student? What do you hope to gain, learn, or work on?

I expect to learn and grow in more ways that I can write in this paragraph. I hope to work on pushing past barriers, especially with content that I may not be comfortable with. I hope to gain confidence creating a business plan as I have only worked in studio settings. I hope learn everything I can from all the teachers and fellow students.

Why do you want to enroll in Integral Yoga Therapy Certification (IYTh)?

I am a life-long learner. I am also looking for the next phase in my career.

How do you intend to use yoga therapy in your practice, both personally and professionally?

In my own practice, I am sure there will be a shift, but I'm to sure specifically how. In my career, I plan to teach fewer in studio classes, and with a deeper education offer a more personalized approach to yoga in a clinical setting, working in tandem with physicians in hospitals to help with unexplained pelvic pain for example.

Given your current or future commitments, how will you create the time and space to achieve your goals for the IYTh program and fulfill all of the training requirements?

I have the luxury to make my own schedule and can cut back on classes as needed.

Are there any current scheduling conflicts or anticipated events that could affect your ability to attend any of the scheduled modules?

No
