Alongside TTCs, I taught the yoga vacation program hatha yoga classes including pranayama. I also taught introduction to Vedanta for yoga vacation program. | Please describe your studies and understanding of yoga philosophy. | Yoga is Union. It is the process of realizing your True Self by purifying the mind that removes the layers prohibiting one from their Self-Realization. I practice yoga with the intention to reach Self-Realization and to help others heal, release and transform. I am constantly studying either by books or virtual groups. At this time, I am self-studying the Science of Yoga Mudras by K. Rangaraja Iyengar, Kundalini Tantra by Swami Satyananda, and Chakras: Energy Centers of Transformation by Harish Johari. Everything I learn I put into practice immediately. My next self-study project is Sacred Science by Swami Yukteswar. Along with this I am enrolled in a live online Bhagavad Gita course. I have taken courses in Sanskrit and Tattva Bodha with Chinmayaananda India. | |||||||||
| What are your expectations as a student? What do you hope to gain, learn, or work on? | All I am looking for in this course is to learn more yogic techniques that can aid in the healing and transformation of yoga aspirants. | |||||||||
| Why do you want to enroll in Integral Yoga Therapy Certification (IYTh)? | I would like to enroll in IYTh to become better equipped as a yoga teacher. I am always interested in learning techniques that can support any student I encounter. I have always had an interest in serving people with their health and well-being. As a child, I wanted to become a medical doctor and changed to psychology as a college student and then to public health for a Masters. One day, I would like to have a Holistic Center/Village/Ashram where students can come to have an authentic yoga experience, Nada Yoga, Ayurveda, and other natural health remedies for deep rooted healing, purification and transformation. I see the IYTh program is aligned with my goals and interest in a life of service. | |||||||||
| How do you intend to use yoga therapy in your practice, both personally and professionally? | I want to use the skills and knowledge gained for whenever I personally need physical or mental healing and to support others. To be able to pragmatically share and teach others how they can take healing into their own hands. I believe in the power of yoga and Ayurveda as I have been able to heal a physical illness myself through ayurveda, hatha yoga, yoga Mudras, meditation and visualization through the bit of knowledge I have gained over the years. All I want is to share this to give others an opportunity to experience themselves. | |||||||||
| Given your current or future commitments, how will you create the time and space to achieve your goals for the IYTh program and fulfill all of the training requirements? | I am constantly studying on my own and am very accustomed to using my time with discipline. I already have a yoga practice discipline since 2016. When completing my Garbosamskar course I was working full-time and taking this course online at 4:30am-6:30am. Afterwards I would meditate, practice pranayama and asana before starting my work day. Every Sunday we needed to submit the weekly homework and essays, I would complete my assignments in the evenings and over the weekend to meet the deadlines. Any experiential study, I contemplate on throughout the day and depending on the technique put into practice either during my morning Sadhana or out in the world. The lecture time fits with my schedule. | |||||||||
| List any interesting things you would like to share about yourself | My students have expressed to me that I teach for the soul. I teach with my heart and compassion. I enjoy seeing students progress on their path and have open communication with them and to support them. I also teach in Spanish. | |||||||||
| Are there any current scheduling conflicts or anticipated events that could affect your ability to attend any of the scheduled modules? | No. | |||||||||
