| Essay Questions | Please answer the following open-ended questions fully and concisely. | ||||||
| Please describe your past/current Yoga teaching experience including location, timeframe, population taught, etc. | Since 2021, I have been teaching yoga weekly every Tuesday evening on Tybee beach as well as a yogic meditation class every Thursday at my shop, Cosmic Corner. These populations are extremely varied, on the beach I mainly have tourists and locals who have little yoga experience and at my shop the demographic is very diverse in age, experience level, and intention. | ||||||
| Have you taken any Yoga therapy training programs? | No | ||||||
| Do you have any special interests or capabilities that may be relevant? | I am a Reiki master and practice Reiki and Tarot/Akashic readings at my shop, Cosmic Corner. I am looking to bring a holistic Yoga Therapy element to our service offerings. | ||||||
| Please describe your studies and understanding of Ayurveda. | I have never officially studied Ayurveda, though I am familiar with the concept of the Doshas and Gunas and have implemented some Ayurvedic practices such as oil pulling, dry brushing, and tongue scraping. | ||||||
| Please describe your studies and understanding of yoga philosophy. | I was deeply enamored with Jnana Yoga in my YTT and love reading Swami Vivekandana's book on Jnana. I am also very drawn to Raja Yoga, especially meditation practice. I am constantly reading books on the subject of yoga, and particularly interested in reading books about the lives of saints such as Yogananda, Anandamayi Ma, Dhyanyogi, Swami Rama, and of course Sri Swami Satchidananda. His Kailash Journal was so inspiring to me! I find I remember Yogic concepts very well when placed in the context of a yogi's biographical experience, so I read those often. | ||||||
| What are your expectations as a student? What do you hope to gain, learn, or work on? | I hope to be immersed in yogic philosophy, gain a deeper understanding of how to help and heal the body and mind, and polish my presentation so I can share this wisdom in an ethical and inspiring way. | ||||||
| Why do you want to enroll in Integral Yoga Therapy Certification (IYTh)? | I want to know as much as I possibly can about yoga! It has been such an enormous blessing in my life. I feel that my 200 hour YTT was such an important life experience, I am eager to go even deeper. I feel that learning about and sharing yoga is an essential aspect of my life's purpose and I hope to be able to share even a fraction of the peace, steadiness, and magic of yoga. | ||||||
| How do you intend to use yoga therapy in your practice, both personally and professionally? | I am hoping to learn things I don't know that I don't know. I would like for gaps or holes in my knowledge base to be pointed out and rough edges to be smoothed. I feel this will help me grow both personally and professionally, as I am already a full-time reader, teacher, and energy worker. | ||||||
| Given your current or future commitments, how will you create the time and space to achieve your goals for the IYTh program and fulfill all of the training requirements? | I own my business and have a dedicated staff and manager, so I have good flexibility in my schedule. | ||||||
| List any interesting things you would like to share about yourself | I enjoy writing, gardening, and visual art as hobbies! I published four fiction books, a Tarot deck, and a comic series. | ||||||
| Are there any current scheduling conflicts or anticipated events that could affect your ability to attend any of the scheduled modules? | My only upcoming plans are a 2 week trip to Thailand in Feb 2024 to learn more about Buddhism. | ||||||
