| How did you envision working with the client(s) to incorporate the selected teaching? (Define the plan) | I envisioned to meet with my client to do a healing intake and based on the intake to create an awareness practice specifically for my client.During the intake my client informed me of the things she loves and are meaningful for her, for example she loves plants being in nature, waterfalls, she loves the color gold.She likes the earthy smells eg.wood, she loves swings and hammocks She also informed my of her triggers for example loud and unexpected noises.She needs to be in a space that feels safe to her.She is familiar with yoga and guided imagery.She has very little time for herself so she is grateful to have an opportunity for self care.Due to her history of trauma and an eating disorder she has some difficulty for connect with her body and trust the sensations of her body, she needs to feel safe in order to have a healing experience. | ||||
| What branch(es) of IY did you use? How does each support your goal/relate to the key teaching? | I used hatha yoga branch of integral , including centering ,gentle movements, breathing practice and an awareness practice to help her to establish a safe space and connect with her body. | ||||
| Short notes on time with client: | We met online via zoom.She states that she already had a very busy day and she is looking forward to have some time for herslef,she was exited about the opportunity to experience an awareness practice with me.She states that she trusts me and is looking forward to our time together .She emphasized the importance of a safe space , she was able to let me know about things that are especially meaningful to her, places, sensations and smells of her childhood.As well as things that are triggering for her eg.loud noise and the ocean ,but she likes water otherwise.She was able to settle in a reclined restorative position with her head elevated, bolster under her knees and a blanket. | ||||
| Follow up suggestions for your client (whether with you or on their own): | The client enjoyed our time together .We talked about the importance of creating a safe space for herself , how she can always come back to this safe place we created during our session together.We talked about the importance of taking time for herself even if it is only a few minutes breathing practice and how over time this will become a ritual and it will become easier to "go to her safe space" when she needs it and how it will also help her to make a connection to her body and get her body to heal. | ||||
| Reflection | |||||
| Did you apply your intended plan once you met with the client(s)? Was the goal achieved? Explain. | Yes I did apply my intended plan and we did achieve the intended goal.The client felt that I was able to create a safe space for her and during the awareness practice she became visibly calmer, she was able to connect with her body and she enjoyed our journey together to her favorite place"rainbow falls".She states that she enjoyed very much to start out with several deep belly breath and she could feel herself calming down.She was able to relax ,close her eyes and imagine herself in this beautiful green space walking to wards a gorgeous waterfall , finding a hammock to swing in, listening to the sound of birds.She imagined to be bathed in this beautiful healing golden light.She allowed her body to rest and take in the healing light and energy.She was able to slowly walk away form this magic place but she paused and looked back at the waterfall and she knew she could always come back. | ||||
| Did you have to adapt anything in your plan? What lessons did you learn? | Yes , she was coming to this session from a busy work day ,so she did not want to lay flat on the floor, we decided to heave her in a 45 degree angle with her head elevated to have a more gradual transition.I had her move her arm up inhaling and lowering her arms slowly with a prolonged exhalation.We then moved on to some deep belly breath and she became visibly calmer and was able to settle into the supported pose.She was then able to close her eyes and get into the awareness practice.Since she made it so clear how important a safe pace is to her , I used the word safe a lot and I was wondering if this was maybe even a bit too frequent, but in her feed back to me she reassured me that with her I could not used the word often enough ,she felt very held and safe.I also learned how important it is to watch how the client is responding to words and if necessary to make changes . | ||||
| If you are faced with the same situation again in the future, would you approach it in the same way? Why or why not? What went well? What you might change and why? Summarize. | Yes I would take the same approach in the future.I found it very helpful to do a healing intake to be very aware of the clients likes and dislikes or even triggers.It helped so much to tailor the awareness practice to the client and give her a tool and a safe place she knew and she was able to return too.In her feedback to me she told me, that I took her to her favorite place and this meant a lot her and to me too.I think it is important to make changes if necessary , for her it was enough to her have her make some gentle arm movements combined with breathing to let her trastion from her busy day, but for some one else it might be more helpful to start standing with more vigorous movement to help them settle in.I love the awareness or witness practice because I am able to tailor the experience to the client and make it very meaningful to them so the can feel protected and cared for this provides such and opportunity for healing and decreasing their anxiety and stress. | ||||
