Report Information

How did you envision working with the client(s) to incorporate the selected teaching? (Define the plan)

To reduce pain and regain ROM prior to injury, I will:

Determine pain scale level at the beginning of each session

Centering and grounding with breath awareness - 5 minutes
JAPA - adapting shoulder movements - 30 minutes
Kapalabhati 5 minutes
Nadi Suddhi 5 minutes
Meditation 10 minutes
Closing with gratitude and prayers 5 minutes

Determine pain scale level at the end of each session

What branch(es) of IY did you use? How does each support your goal/relate to the key teaching?

Hatha - pranayama and adaptive asana to reduce pain and regain range of motion and prevent further injury to the shoulder.

Short notes on time with client:

I incorporated the JAPA practice with my daily meditation practice and adapted the shoulder sequence due to the pain and lack of range of motion in the shoulder. By the third week the pain was gone and the range of motion on the injured shoulder was regained.

Follow up suggestions for your client (whether with you or on their own):

If the shoulder is not healed within a reasonable time frame seek medical attention.

Reflection
Did you apply your intended plan once you met with the client(s)? Was the goal achieved? Explain.

Yes, and the goal was achieved.

Did you have to adapt anything in your plan? What lessons did you learn?

Yes, the shoulder series was adapted based on the shoulder pain and the ROM. I learned to take it easy and not rush the process of this practice. I was confident it would work.

If you are faced with the same situation again in the future, would you approach it in the same way? Why or why not? What went well? What you might change and why? Summarize.

Yes, this practice was safe and effective.
